Riverdale Raiders linebacker Zach Polsenberg passed away earlier this year after suffering a heat stroke during high school football practice. His core body temperature was 107 degrees and he went into a coma. He fought liver and kidney failure for 11 days before passing away. His family has since started the Zach Polsenberg's Heat Severity Charity to raise awareness about heat stroke, and will be holding their Inaugural Fundraiser on December 3.

Last night, the Trump Administration announced its decision to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for the roughly 50,000 Haitian nationals that have been living in the U.S. since the devastating 2010 earthquake that killed more than 200,000 people. The protection will terminate on July 22, 2019, giving Haitians under TPS 18 months to return to Haiti or become subject to detention and deportation. The number of opioid-related deaths in Florida increased 35 percent in 2016 according to a report released last week by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement . The report, based on data collected from medical examiners across the state, finds that overdose deaths caused by the power synthetic opioid fentanyl shot up 97 percent last year and that the presence of fentanyl in overdose victims increased 80 percent. Since 2001 Florida has protected more than 2.4 million acres of land through the Florida Forever program . And in 2014 75% of voters said they want tax money to go toward land conservation . Yet, lawmakers have zeroed out Florida Forever funding for three years in a row.
