Thanks for listening and joining me on this special episode. This weekend we celebrate the GURU's big day on Sunday. But this past Wednesday we lost another legendary college basketball coach, Bobby Knight. Knight passed away at 83, and when he retired from the game, he was the all time leader in wins with 902. His three championships will always be remembered with his undefeated season in 1976, led by his point guard and HOF'er, Isiah Thomas. I will always remember him not for all of the antics, but for being the greatest teacher and having the undisputed knowledge of the game of basketball. RIP Coach Knight. We also talked about the way the college football playoffs are shaping up and the impact of the first CFP poll. The GURU was RIGHT AGAIN! The NBA in season tournament? • GURU TALKIN SPORTS: SPECIAL EDITION, 40 YEARS AGO.
This episode isn't sports related. It's been 40 years since we lost 241 servicemen in Beirut Lebanon. On October 23, 1983 around 6am, one of the most tragic event in America's history took place. The Beirut tragedy is still memorable and unexplained to this day. As for me, I lost a cousin and a shipmate on that day. Just like 911, let us never forget the our fallen Marines and Sailors that came in peace, and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
