  • COVID-19 Protester Rights, Conspiracy Theorists and Psychology with bioethicist, & New York University professor, Art Caplan and University of Delaware professor Joanne Miller
The explosive philosophical debate pitting social justice vs. social distance continues to rage on, and Alan and Kerri Kasem jumped into the fray with an exclusive interview with world-renowned bioethicist, and New York University professor, Art Caplan. The table was set to talk about hotbed issues such as whether protestors should waive their rights to medical treatment should they contract COVID-19, as they willingly marched in public risking exposure to coronavirus, to what duties, if any, individuals have to make concerted efforts to not spread the virus to others, especially to those who might be physically compromised, to whether there ought to be limitations on free speech for anti-vaxxers, or others whose positions may lead to harmful public consequences.  And, that is just scratching the ethical surface of the Gurvey’s Law discussion! Then, the program shifts gears into the direction of conspiracy theorists and psychology. Joining the discussion was University of Delaware professor Joanne Miller, to talk about why conspiracy theories and those prescribing to the theories have become so popular in the COVID-19 era. Professor Miller explained her research on the issue and the psychology behind it all, as Professor Caplan weighed in on the ethical undertones. • Mysterious abductions of princesses Latifa and Shamsa with attorney David Haigh and Latifa's cousin Marcus Essabri
As the story of George Floyd’s death continues to consume America, last weekend Alan and Kerri Kasem turned their attention to a very different civil rights story that is happening abroad. Their focus involves United Arab Emirates prime minister Sheikh Maktoum's missing daughters, princesses Latifa and Shamsa -- whose mysterious whereabouts are making headlines internationally, and, in turn, shedding new light on possible human rights violations within the royal court. Princess Latifa’s attorney David Haigh and her cousin Marcus Essabri joined Gurvey’s Law to discuss her alleged abduction by her father, and explained how a divorce battle between the Sheikh and his estranged wife Princess Haya is exposing the truth behind the ruler’s dark past. Where is Princess Latifa now and why? And how can the U.S. intervene? That was the Gurvey’s Law topic last Sunday and we have a starring cast that talked about it. Filled with international intrigue, you won’t want to miss Gurvey's Law on Sunday's at 5 p.m. on KABC-AM 790 TalkRadio.

It's Gurvey’s Law’s annual Mother’s Day extravaganza! Alan and Kerri Kasem celebrate and honor all mothers on this special day with two amazing stories! When not figure skating, Mirai dedicated her “quick step” performance on "Dancing with the Stars" to her mother. • Compassion over service & personal injury lawsuits with law professor & author, Daniel L. Hatcher, Executive Director of the California Applicants' Attorneys Association, Diane Worley and Attorney Kathy McArthur
‪THIS SUNDAY ON GURVEY’S LAW — Throughout the pandemic, we are hearing stories that government financial aid isn’t always going where it should. According to Daniel L. Hatcher, law professor at the University of Baltimore and author of the book, “The Poverty Industry: The Exploitation of America’s Most Vulnerable Citizen,” these issues are deeper and more troubling than people realize. His book exposes disturbing perverse incentives of various contemporary aid systems. Hatcher, who is featured in Netflix’ documentary "The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez,“ joins Alan Gurvey and Kerri Kasem to talk about injustices involving companies like Maximus that puts profits over compassion and service. Also joining Alan and Kerri is Diane Worley, Executive Director of the California Applicants' Attorneys Association, to talk about how this issue impacts medical treatment in the California Workers’ Compensation system. And, if that isn’t enough, maybe you are thinking about filing a personal injury lawsuit because of the pandemic? • Billionaire & Coca-Cola bottling heir Alki David returns to the show!
After a four week wait... billionaire and Coca-Cola bottling heir Alki David returns to the show! You may remember that the controversial entrepreneur and media tech maven first appeared on Gurvey's Law back in March with his free-wheeling talk about the coronavirus, Lisa Bloom (his adversary in two #MeToo trials), Lisa's mother Gloria Allred, and what really happened behind the scenes of his wildly publicized sexual harassment trials. Well, let's just say Alan and Kerri Kasem will pick up where they left off, and you can pretty much count on the fact that no topic will be off limits with Alki! This time, however, they will be joined by Fred Heather, Alki's attorney from Glaser Weil, who may just try to muzzle the “Bad Boy of Hollywood.” You never know what will happen when Alki David takes the mic, but Gurvey’s Law’s technicians will no doubt have their fingers on the bleepers. The coronavirus pandemic continues to cause serious upheaval for the U.S. economy. At the top of the hour, criminal defense attorney Sam Bassett joins the show to discuss the effect of the COVID-19 situation on arrests and criminal procedure. He will also prognosticate about legal activity when we come out of the shelter in place rules.  The next question Gurvey’s Law tackles is how soon can we expect the economy to recover from the nationwide shutdown? John Johnson, the CEO of Edgeworth Analytics, explains why he is optimistic about a rebound and why the unemployment numbers aren’t as bad as they appear.  And, speaking of being jobless, if you are tired of being on hold just to file for unemployment benefits, tech entrepreneur Joshua Browder has a new app that might help with your woes.  Then, if you are struggling with what to do with your investments during this uncertain time, wealth manager Josh Oder discusses the do’s and don’ts of managing your money, or what’s left of it!  Tune in on Sundays from 5-6 p.m. at KABC-AM 790 TalkRadio, streaming live at kabc.com and with Alexa at 790KABC!
