Augustus “Gus” Roe

Gus Roe & Vietnam Martial Arts. (His full name is Augustus John Roe, however we go with Gus). How a Brit from the East Coast of England wound up in Vietnam after a long martial arts history.

Two cats named Dandy and Beano and how they have a place in history. The idea of process and consistency are two essential elements of martial arts and life.  The book: The Martial Arts of Vietnam – An Overview of History and Styles. The three sections of Vietnam, the North, The Central, who has a lot of agriculture, and the South.

Dancing and martial arts. Music, classical to Megadeath. How in-person instruction has its flavor, that can be a good thing or it can be a changing thing. Trade routes have an impact on all martial arts and Vietnam is no different. The influences are significant and different if you are from different regions such as The North v. The South.

The Food of Vietnam

Pork patties with fish sauce are delicious.  Be humble, it is often overlooked and it is often given lip service, but do be humble, it’s just a great policy.  And a new phrase is issued – to forever to be stolen – when it comes to having an experience, “Don’t stand there sniffing it.”

Augustus began to travel in his early twenties and soon found himself attracted to East Asia—more than likely a result background in the Asian martial arts. Although his passion for reading and writing began at a young age, the characters and stories he discovered on his travels reawakened a passion for the written word.From 2015 onward, Augustus completed several articles, academic papers, and two books on martial arts and education. In 2019, he released his first novel “Where Tigers Roam” and has since been working on various other fiction and non-fiction projects.Please see the “Upcoming Work” section for more details about future publications.
