Week 14 College Football
Last week’s games:
1. #9 Ole Miss loses to Florida- 24-17- first big upset of the weekend. Florida was not exactly in control the entire game, but you could see that on offense and defense they came to play. They took advantage of a muffed punt return, and several of lane Kiffins signature 4th and short situations to win the field position game. In tell you what, the confidence that the gators play with when DJ Lagway is in the game is night and day difference. The look on the face of Jaxson Dart, realizing his chances at a playoff spot were pretty much over.
2. #5 Indiana gets ruined by #2 Ohio State- 38-15- Ryan Day vs curt Cigneti. OSU only had 316 yards total. Offensively they were not just destroying Indiana. They did hold Kurtis Rourke to 68 yards passing, and Indiana to 83 yards rushing.
3. #4 Penn State scrapes by Minnesota- 26-25- this team being number 4 in the country seems line a joke. They are not on fire but they do keep winning. If it weren’t for a couple turnovers Minnesota would have pulled this off the win.
4. Kansas Beats #16 Colorado- 37-21- Colorado is not the new Georgia. Not sure if Deion really said that, but it’s not true. Kansas has found their footing late in the season, taking out the two best teams in the Big12 the last 2 weeks.
5. #21 Arizona State beat #14 BYU- 28-23- we all predicted this game was gonna be an ASU win. BYU only scored 3 points in the first half. They would probably have won this game if they did not have 2 interceptions.
6. Auburn beats #15 Texas A&M-43-41- 3 overtime’s for this game. Classic Auburn home game upset honestly. 1st half was all auburn, 2nd half was all Texas A&M.
7. #7 Alabama’s lethargic game against Oklahoma losing 24-3- Jaylon Milrow threw 3 interceptions, only threw for 164 yards and was 11/26. Oklahoma was all running game: 257 yard on the ground.
Questions for the week?
1. There is not really one dominant sec team this season. Major upsets can come weekly. Has something changed in the SEC or has competition just gotten better?
2. Does a Big12 Champion even deserve to be in the playoffs? If things keep going as they are, you might have a 27th ranked team making the playoff.
3. Are there teams trying for that 5th spot rather than making their conference championship game in the SEC or Big10?
Week 14 Games:
1. Georgia Tech at #6 Georgia- probably not the most likely upset of the week, but Georgia tech has had good games this season, and certainly Georgia has struggled to win some games this season due to interceptions and offensive challenges.
2. #5 Notre Dame at USC- I don’t think USC has any chance in this game. Notre Dame is really playing good football right now. Any hope for the Trojans?
3. #7 Tennessee at Vanderbilt- I can’t believe we are saying this is an upset alert, but this team in Nashville has not been g strong this season. Tennessee is a different team though. They have the talent the coaching, the momentum, but man would it throw a wrench in the mix if vandy takes Tennessee out.
4. Michigan at #2 Ohio State- anything can happen in this game right? Probably not this season.
5. #16 South Carolina at #12 Clemson- 167-1800 the most anticipated meeting between these two teams in years!
6. Auburn at #13 Alabama- 120-3500 somehow I think this show down in the iron bowl can become a classic. Alabama is not dominant by any means, but still a heavy favorite over Auburn, who is coming off the high of a huge upset last week.
7. #3 Texas at #20 Texas A&M-where prices of tickets range from 650-4000 ,this game is vital for Texas A&M to win if they want in the playoffs. In all honesty I think Texas can lose this game and still make the playoffs. Does Steve Sarkisian decide to throw this game and skip the sec championship in the hopes of a 5 seed?
Since we have been doing this show for 5 years now, and we took down episode 1 because…. Well…… it was bad. I decided to re-release it today, just for fun.
Scary to see how far we have come, and how little we have learned.
Enjoy? I hope you do!

Thank you!
Intros- what was the best sports year of your life…. Meaning all your teams did well/exceeded expectations/or just plain exciting. All sports….
05-07- Patriots won Super Bowl, Red Sox had just won the World Series on 04, gators were on top in both basketball and Football. Even the Celtics were getting ready to win the NBA championship in 2008.
Top 12 poll from Tuesday Night
1. Oregon
2. Georgia
3. Miami
4. BYU
5. Texas
6. Ohio State
7. Tennessee
8. Penn State
9. Indiana
10. Notre Dame
11. Alabama
12. Boise State
What if Scenario:
1. What if SMU wins out, and beats Miami in the ACC championship?
2. What if Iowa State wins out and plays undefeated BYU and wins the Big12 championship?
3. I see 4 1 loss big ten teams going into December. Ohio State rematches Oregon in the Big Championship and loses. We are seriously looking a 4 big 10 teams then. If OSU loses to Oregon, do they just get dropped to a 10 seed? Still 4 in the playoff
Last weeks games
1. Florida vs Georgia- sadly I had to watch the gators season go down in flames as DJ Lagway’s injury is likely season ending. Florida led at the half off of 3 interceptions, and capitalizing on them. But you can see the defense and offense change once Lagway left the game. They still wanted to win, but there was doubt. With Lagway in there was no doubt. Georgia has some problems to deal with on offense and defense if they want to win a Natty.
2. South Carolina vs Texas A&M- game of the week in my opinion. Texas A&M just never figured out this Gamecocks defense. They were all over TAMU’s Qb, and the Tamu defense could not seem to tackle these Gamecock receivers and Sellers.
3. Clemson loss to Louisville- Louisville pounced on these tigers on Saturday. going up 26-7 by the end of Q3. The quick Louisville offense really threw the Clemson defense for a loop.
4. Oregon beats Michigan - last week Mt Man said that of the 110,000 people in the stadium none could play Qb. Clearly the only one who could play Qb last week was Dillon Gabriel. 294 yards passing, clean football by Oregon over all. Those 110k fans did not affect Oregon at all. 2 five yard penalties, 10/15 on 3rd down. This crowd was silenced by Q2, and probably leaving by mid-q3.
5. Penn State loss to Ohio State- sort of a defensive battle between these two teams on Saturday. The coaches both trashed for never winning the big game. Ryan Day comes out on top. Still some weakness around Ohio State, but the oline showed some
Questions of the week
1. Does anyone feel like depth has been reduced on teams causing more parody in the SEC and Big10 and elsewhere?
2.
Games of the Week 11
1. #20 Colorado at Texas Tech- coach prime is going into this game at 6-2 coming off a bye week. Texas Tech is 6-3. Colorado is favored by 3
2. #19 Clemson at Virginia Tech- after last weeks performance I suspect Clemson got a second wake up call for the season. Virginia Tech was looked at as a potential threat in the ACC this season,
3. Michigan at #8 Indiana- Michigan has had 1 win in 4 weeks. They are still working out the QB problems. Unbeaten Indiana hopes to stay that way. Kurtis Rourke has been exceptional at QB for the Hoosiers. Michigan does not have the defense to keep him out of the end zone.
4. #2 Georgia at #16 Ole Miss- big matchup this weekend. Ole Miss has 2 losses, and they don’t want that 3rd one. A win against Georgia will give the credibility to take a top 12 spot with two losses. Georgia struggled against Florida and Kentucky this season, Will the Jaxon Dart offense be to much for the Georgia Defense?
5. #11 Alabama at #14 LSU- both teams are 6-2, both teams have playoff chances on the line here. hey are going to Death Valley at night.
6. #9 BYU at Utah- undefeated BYU looks to keep their record on tarnished. Utah was the powerhouse in the mountains of the Pac 12
7. South Carolina at Vanderbilt - coming off a huge win against Texas A&M last week. The gamecocks certainly want to knock out another ranked opponent

Looking back at week 9:
1. Alabama beats Mizzu- 34-0.
2. Pitt beats Syracuse 41-13
3. Boise State beats UNLV- 29-24.
4. Ohio State beats Nebraska 21-17: Ohio state was lethargic this game. The offensive line struggled..
5. Texas Beats Vandy- 27-24.
6. Texas A&M beats LSU 38-23: both of these teams were playing to be at the top of the SEC,
Looking at Week 10 CFB
1. Pitt at SMU- ACC leaders, Pitt has been winning but not blowing anyone out to bad except Syracuse last weekend, while SMU is fairly solid offensively but lacking defensively. This could be a really close game in my opinion. SMU is a 7.5 point favorite, probably because they are expected to score easily. Pitt showed they can play though, forcing turnovers and interceptions. This could be close, with Pitt even coming out on top.
2. Duke at Miami- coach: Mario Cristobal. Cam Ward is QB.Duke held their own against SMU last week. Losing in OT by a point. They have no trust in their kicker, and will have to figure out that piece to beat Miami. Probably have to figure out a lot. ,Miami has had some close calls. Virginia Tech, Cal and Louisville all 1 possession games. Duke is probably at par with those 3 teams, maybe even having a better defense. Only 1 team put up more than the 28 points SMU put up.
3. Texas A&M at South Carolina-coach: Beamer and Mike Elko. QB Conner Wiegman or Marcel Reed: I should buy tickets to this game, because SC at home is going to be huge against TAMU. Texas A&M is running on all cylinders right now, looking well coached, with players who believe they can come from no where and win it all. The gamecocks of put some good games together while slacking on others, so, depending on which team we got, this could be an upset for the week.
4. Florida vs Georgia: Billy Napier and Kirby Smart. QB; DJ Lagway and Carson Beck: obviously on paper Georgia is the better team this season, but they are not the team they have been from total production standpoint. Gators are still trying to figure things out with DJ Lagway replacing an injured Graham Mertz..
5. Clemson vs Louisville- coach: Dabo Swinney and Jeff Brohm. QB Cade Clubmick. since their loss to Georgia Clemson has been wrecking their opponents. Louisville is mid-tier at best, with a good offense, but little defense. Clemson wins
6. Oregon at Michigan- coach: Dan Lanning and Sherrone Moore. QB: Dillon Gabriel: how to be relevant this season, beat Oregon in the big house. Michigan has not found their place yet though. Oregon just has to many weapons on both sides of the ball to play down to Michigans level.
7. Ohio State at Penn State: Ryan Day. James Franklin. QB: possible that Penn States QB Drew Allar is out, and a true freshman will be in. Will Howard has the chops to win this game, as long as they play aggressively and he can get the protection needed by a young offensive line.
Week 9 College Football
Looking Back
1. Miami at Louisville - exceptional football game, Miami pulled it off, but fun to watch. Almost 100 points put up and 4 td’s in the 4th quarter. Does this help Miami legitimize Miami’s story yet?
2. Indiana wrecked Nebraska 56-7- no one thought this would happen. Nebraska defense was on their heals the entire game. Dylan Raiola showed his lack of experience, throwing 3 interceptions. Indiana just curb stomped Matt Rules Cornhuskers. 495 yards of total offense by Indiana.
3. Tennessee 24-Alabama 17- the first half was pretty low key, with only 7 points scored by Alabama, Tennessee was actually looking rough. 3 turnovers. That changed in the second half, Tennessee scored twice, going up 14-10. Really came down to discipline on Tennessee side, and them wearing down Alabama enough to win. They were able to run the ball, and defensively they got plenty of stops.
4. LSU beat Arkansas 34-10: I thought we had a potential upset only our hands going into the week. Arkansas has played some good football, but they did not play well on Saturday. 3 turnovers and 15 first downs as compared to 25 first downs for LSU. That does not win games. LSU held Arkansas to 38 yards rushing on 19 carries.
5. Georgia 30 Texas 15- taking Quinn Ewers out of the game sure did spur some conversation during and after that game, but later Sarcquisian made it clear that Ewers is his starter. But even the manning name doesn’t scare the bull dogs. Carson Beck wasnt even really on his game, he threw 3 interceptions. Georgia stuck to their running game and solid defense, blowing out Texas in the first half 22-0. Hard to come back from that, but Texas tried. Scoring all 15 points in the 3rd quarter, but not getting any fiurther than that.
6. Iowa State barely beat UCF 38-35- iowa state allowed 354 rushing yards against UCF, they are ranked #10 the highest ranked big12 team. They better tighten up that run defense if they are gonna win in the playoffs
Questions of the week:
Lets take a look at the potential conference Championship situation:
SEC- Texas A&M and LSU are unbeaten, Georgia, Tennessee, Mizzu, Texas and Vandy are 1 conference loss.
ACC- Clemson, Miami, Pitt, SMU, unbeaten, but Duke Syracuse and Virginia Tech can still write their own ticket with 1 loss
B1G- Indiana, Oregon, Penn State unbeaten, Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio State- 1 loss
Big12- BYU, Iowa State- unbeaten k-state, Texas Tech, Cincinnati, Colorado 1 confrence loss
AAC- Army, Navy, Tulane are all in the running, since none have lost a conference game
Others - safe to say no other conference champs will make playoffs just because of the dominance of the ACC so far. Do UNLV or Boise State make it in? It comes down to highest ranked G5 conference winning team in the committee’s poll.
UNLV plays Boise State
Week 9 Games
1. #8 LSU at #14 Texas A&M- both of these teams are exceeding my expectations so far. I think they are on par with analysts. TAMU only loss is to Notre Dame, while LSU lost to USC. Both undefeated in conference play. One will get out alive.
2. #5 Texas at #25 Vanderbilt-Texas gets stuck with Vandy on their schedule
3. #21 Missouri at #15 Alabama- Mizzu at 6-1 has barely floated by the last several games they’ve played. Especially against any Power 4 team.
4. #12 Notre Dame at #24 Navy- Notre Dame has the #5 Scoring Defense in the country only giving up 12 points per game on average. They are not exceptional against the rush though. Giving up 113 yards per game, ranked 30th in the country..
5. Washington at #13 Indiana- Indiana should win this game easily. Washington played Iowa, who lacks consistency on offense yet put up 40 points.
6. #20 Illinois at #1 Oregon- if Oregon can beat Ohio State, you’d think they will be fin against Illinois. Purdue put up 49 against Illinois.
7. #22 SMU at Duke- I’m surprised that Duke is not ranked right now. Both teams are 6-1 contending for a spot in the ACC championship. SMU does put up 440 yards
And certainly we want to make a living at this, so if you want to help at minimum support our drinking habits you can Venmo us some beer money at guysatthebartalkingsports. That is our Venmo name. Guysatthebartalkingsports.
