It's Doomsday for the Guys this week! But Robbie and Art decided to do a podcast anyway.

It was a scary day in the Guys of a Certain Age studio, and it wasn’t just because Art was on hiatus.  Jay led off with his Geek of the Week, reporting on the legit Star Wars droids that made their debut at a recent Nvidia conference, giving Robbie flashbacks from Terminator.  But these droids are cuter.  Then Robbie told of the upset AppleTV+ cart and how much they were losing every year - and it’s not a small number.  

But as long as they keep pumping out the content, The Guys will keep watching, and today the focus was on Severance, Season 2.  The finale..finally…and Jay watched it almost as soon as it was dropped.  That’s news right there, right?  Spoilers abound in the episode, but not in these lines.  Suffice it to say that Jay and Robbie have high praise for it, and it’s not just because of the soundtrack - but that certainly played a role.  And a drum. And a trombone.  And…well, we’ll stop here before that “no spoiler” promise is spoiled.  Look for fascinating transitions in the characters’ lives, a significant color scheme variant, and an ending that may or may not surprise you.  

If you’re severed, you won’t remember it tomorrow, anyway.  

This week, Robbie and Art discuss a 40-year-old secret that will soon be revealed to the public again. And even though Jay's out there are plenty of Geeks in this episode including A New History of the DC Universe, Jason Mamoa's update on his Lobo suit, Jon Bernthal not only starring in but helping to WRITE the upcoming Punisher movie, Sigil's virtual D and D facing a harsh reality, and the icing on the Diners and Drive-Ins cake, a comic book teaming Superman, Batman, and Guy Fieri!

It's sheer Paradise in the Guys of a Certain Age podcast studio today. And no, that's not because Jay Reed couldn't make it for this episode.

Robbie and Art take a look at the Hulu (by way of ABC and Fox) limited series that's gone from an underground hit to a world-shaking sensation! Listen as the Guys dig deep and share their thoughts.

It’s awards season once again, and once again, Guys of a Certain Age podcast has taken itself out of the running - The Guys want to give everyone else a chance.  

But who knows, maybe a surprise winner will emerge, just as in every single other awards show that some people still watch.  Art watched a few clips of the SAG-AFTRA awards and Jay watched a bit of those and and bit of the Grammys.  Robbie said, “I have absolutely nothing to say about the Grammys.”  So he didn’t participate.  

But Art and Jay still found lots to talk about, be it awards shows in general, how Beyonce’ became a country music icon, and the antics of Harrison Ford and his cracker.  Important Geeks of the Week in this episode as well, with a Lucasfilm leadership change and big news from Hogwarts. Unlike the awards shows they discuss, this is an episode you don’t want to miss.

The Guys truly thought about this long-awaited opening of the MCU year.  And there are questions to be answered in the Geek of the Week segment: what will happen to 007 now that Amazon Prime is in control?  Will he now be known as James Bezos?  And what about Dr. Who?  Is the new Dr. out, and if so - is there even a replacement in the Tardis?  Dr. Sterns is calculating all the answers.  

This week Robbie and Art welcome a special guest and friend of the show, Stefan Tribble. Stefan works for Ross Video, a Canadian company that designs and manufactures live event and video production equipment.

Stefan gives us the low down on his most recent event, Super Bowl LIX. Stefan worked on the in-venue production, the show within the show. So for our listeners who attended the game, Stefan was behind what you saw on the jumb– big LED screens in the Super Dome. It's so interesting, Art didn't even think to make a Star Trek reference about Stefan's last name!

The Guys are pretty excited about the Fantastic Four teaser trailer that came out the week before the Super Bowl.  Jay got even more pumped up about the extended trailer he thought he'd discovered before Art and Robbie. 

Yes, he was duped.  But it was a high quality dupe.  And the excitement level is so high, they're considering changing the podcast name to the Terrific Three.  Keep listening for more news on that. (They're still waiting for their powers.)

One might say that The Guys are a skeleton crew of sorts: Robbie does the editing, Jay writes the episode descriptions, and Art does the impressions.  But do they perform these essential functions in space?  While being chased by pirates?  Light years from home on a spaceship run by a banged up droid with memory issues?  

Unfortunately, the answer is D: none of the above.  Instead, they live vicariously through the latest Star Wars series from Disney+: Skeleton Crew.  And they answer critical questions like, Is Mr. Law a Jude-i?
