Episode #43 - Habit Development Habits Never Die, MBL Our habits, whether good or bad, never die. Our older habits will always stronger than our newer habits. Even if the new habits work better than the old habits. Once we stop practicing our new habits, the old habits can quickly resurface. With consistent practice we can change our behavior and our results by reducing the dominance of our older habits. The process by which this occurs in our brain is called automaticity. It is our brain’s way of transforming the actions we repeatedly practice into new habits. This process requires the ongoing emotional labor of leaving our comfort zones. Old habits will never die but, with practice they can become irrelevant.
