Halloweeners: A Horror Movie Podcast

Happy fall! We know you’re absolutely thriving now that the air has gotten a little crisper, the leaves are getting more colorful, and pumpkins are hanging out on front stoops. Since it’s been a little bit since we last spoke to you, we thought the best way to kick off the most wonderful time of the year would be a little catch-up episode where Cody and Kira talk about all the spooky films they’ve seen over the past six months! We talk movies old and new, including big hits like BACKROOMS and OBSESSION. Settle in and join us for a casual and typically silly little chat!

Ki-ki-ki, bye-bye-bye! Let’s venture out to Camp Crystal Lake one last time and talk about the 2009 remake of FRIDAY THE 13TH! It’s the final film (for now…) to feature our favorite hockey gear-loving murderer Jason Voorhees, and we think he goes out on top with this shockingly decent movie. We also assert our expertise in very specific areas, such as Kira’s awareness of shopping mall politics and Cody’s knowledge of New Jersey gas stations laws. Make sure to stick around to the end of the episode for a series recap and ranking!

NOTE: Because of technical difficulties, we had to use our back-up recording. Apologies for any audio quality issues!

Michael Myers is back and then he’s back back back AGAIN! So hop in a dumbwaiter and get ready for some Dangertainment, because we’re discussing both HALLOWEEN H20: 20 YEARS LATER and HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION! Cody and Kira celebrate the spookiest time of the year by judging Michael’s masks, the acting abilities of two of our finest performers (Michelle Williams and Tyra Banks), and cinematic depictions of outdated technology.

Convert those dollars to pounds and mind the gap, we’re hopping over the ocean for AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON! Fresh from a visit to jolly old England, Cody can’t stop saying “the Tube” (or rather, “Chube”), while Kira declares that movies are BACK thanks to this 44 year old film. Beware the moon!

Hold onto your shunts, we’re talking the 80s horror satire SOCIETY! Join us as we discuss this absolutely insane movie featuring legendary makeup effects from a guy with the craziest name we’ve ever encountered: Screaming Mad George. Kira does an impeccable Yoda impression and Cody discovers that he loves the word “orgiastic.”

Happy Friday the 13th, it’s FREDDY VS. JASON! In honor of the holiday, we’re visiting this classic joint slay and using it as a chance to reflect upon some important relics of the 2000s, like MapQuest, extremely padded bras, and Kelly Rowland. Speaking of, has Beyoncé seen this movie? Listen to us chat about this iconic match-up. The girls are fighting!!

Well suck my blood, we’re back with a new episode! We dig our fangs into 2024’s NOSFERATU, directed by big old nerd Robert Eggers. Kira and Cody both try their best Count Orlok impressions, appoint themselves as crisis managers for rats, and break down what being confused-horny can do to a person.

Fire up your washing machine, it’s time for HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS! We’re discussing the sixth (and worst?) entry in the Halloween franchise. Cody does a sick imitation of an electric guitar and Kira has notes about the 90s costumes. Join us as we discuss the differences between the Theatrical and Producer’s Cuts (Guess what? They’re both bad!)

3…2…1…blast off! It’s another Friday the 13th, which can only mean one thing…Jason is going to space, of course! It’s time to talk about JASON X! Cody puts together in real time that space is above the sky and Kira has questions about Jason’s “downstairs face.” Listen as we come to terms with the fact that this is absolutely a “don’t worry about it” kind of movie.

Grab a bowl of Pine-Sol soup and get in your tent, because we’re discussing THE SIXTH SENSE! It’s the movie that made M. Night Shyamalan a household name, and it’s currently celebrating its 25th anniversary! Cody compares the film to Disney’s Haunted Mansion and Kira has notes about fashion choices for grieving mothers. And what’s that party thing after a funeral called?
