With only 750 official residents, the Austrian town of Hallstatt is reeling from the 10,000 visitors it receives each day. The beloved lakeside town resides in the Hallstatt Dachstein Salzkammergut region, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known for being the inspiration for the village in the animated Frozen Disney movie, this tiny village struggles to thrive in an overbearing world of tourism. It’s so popular, in fact, that a replica was created in China.
