Hallway Hearts, Hard Truths

Well, who knew I could form a letter to my colon!  Over several weeks, I did something similar with my pancreas, hypothalamus, vagus nerve, and even bladder.  Maybe I will post another example of this unique manner of expression.  It got me thinking and reflecting, so I hope it inspires the same in you.

What if there is a way to utilize the amazing advances of technology without losing attentiveness to all that makes life, LIFE.  I am far from that outcome but enjoying the periodic results of trying!

We once lived a few streets over from a famous baseball player. We knew the grand driveway and the name on the jersey, but we didn’t know the man. A wave from the sidewalk isn't a relationship.  In this episode, I'm reflecting on the impact of a zoomed in and thoughtful book study just completed over the course of six months.

I draw strength and perspective from Scripture.  The verse I am referencing is Proverbs 11:1, which I have memorized in the King James Version.  This is another time where you're invited to hear how I "chew on" a reliable saying until I'm starting to notice what it is saying.  There is room to discern whether I've made mistakes, I don't pretend to be an expert.  I suggest cherishing this practice: let wisdom from the Word have center stage in your mind, outside of your own musings or worldly philosophies.

An invitation to observe an instance of meditation, this time on a walk.  How do you see meaning emerge, for a passage, chapter, or book?  It makes me happy to keep going back to the fountain (of Psalm 119) to linger with a text from Scripture.

If conversations with a Christian is new to you, hang on till the end.  Pretty early on it may sound that I am being critical of an author who I have to admit was helpful to me.  I found that this author's techniques and rationale were useful, to a point.  When I noticed myself taking a detour from deeper convictions, my direction was restored when I made a point of remembering Christian basics!  Winter 2023
