Pastor Christian will be preaching through different passages where Jesus seemed less than nice, giving a fuller picture of who Jesus is and what made him display passion.

The first passage is Mark 9.14-29, where the disciples cannot heal a

boy and Jesus responds by calling them faithless and asking how long

must he put up with them! Blunt words from our loving Saviour. They

had tried to do things by their own strength and power.

We think different than Jesus Christ. Most of us are not wandering spiritual men, and a lot of us understand the world not through spiritual terms, but through logic and intelligence. Nicodemus also thought about the world different but through his interactions with Jesus we learn that things take time. Whether it has taken you a long time to connect with Jesus, or for you to help a friend connect with Jesus, do not be discouraged, it takes time, because we are not like Jesus.

This Sunday we will be continuing our series called "People Not Like Jesus" by looking at Jesus' interactions with the leper and the centurion in Matthew 8. Both people who could have been shunned for different reasons. But Jesus longs to embrace faith from anyone!

Our culture would have us believe that our greatest way to feel free is to becoming completely autonomous and independent; however the Scriptures invite us to experience freedom with a different framework.

What does it mean to be engaged with God as your Father? When we walk in relationship to God as Father, it’s at reminder that you are an accepted and loved child. If we lose track of that gift, we can slip into trying to earn His approval through our own efforts.
