Abdul Hannan is singer of hits such as Bikhra and Iraaday, and his releases in 2023 made him one of the most heard Pakistani artists of the year. After a meteoric rise, Abdul Hannan gives an exclusive interview to Hamnawa, discussing his conquering of the Pakistani music charts, his musical process, and the economics of the Pakistani music industry.

This interview accompanies a profile of Hannan I wrote, which was recently published. We recorded late in 2023, and a few of the projects Hannan teases in the interview are now out. This is perhaps the most expansive description I’ve heard of Hannan’s process, motivation and career.
