Handling Grief and Honoring Ourselves: Real and Raw with Sara

Listen Later

Sara gets raw and real on the week of the anniversary of the death of her mother. We all go through major transitions that shake us to the core, and Sara speaks of her own divorce and the loss of her mom. She connects it to Identity and core values and the importance of making sure those are up to date and used as guidelines for maneuvering thru hard changes.

Sara talks of her Divorce as a major transition, and how she had to sit with her core values and make sure she named them and acted according to them. She suggests an every 6 month inventory of who you are, and what your values are. Her’s include integrity, love, honesty, communication, relationships, and health.

Sara chose to climb a mountain and watch a beautiful sunrise to honor her mom not being here and to honor herself as well. She needed to get quiet and meditate and be in nature to really go thru the grief. Sara suggests this as a tool to use: get quiet, whatever way works for you.

She takes us thru her Identity shifts now that she is the only woman in her family structure and how that changes her awareness of her role to her dad, her uncle, her kids, etc.

It’s an honest look at how we handle our identity thru shifts and changes, and how, if we do the work of identifying and re-evaluating, we work through it all in the most beautiful way.
