Welcome welcome back! What would it actually take to build a more self-reliant life, one based on real food, regenerative farming, natural homes, decentralized communities and technology that works for people instead of managing them?
In this episode of Hangin’ with Mist3rDouglas, I sit down with Tony “Farmer Till I Die or Get Disappeared” on X a Marine Corps veteran, regenerative farming and permaculture practitioner, natural builder, educator, and the mind behind UniphiHQ.com
We get into permaculture, regenerative agriculture, food forests, aquaponics, food sovereignty, homesteading, hempcrete homes, natural building, Bitcoin, blockchain, decentralized communities, work-share programs, sacred geometry, geodesic domes, cymatics, self-reliance, healing spaces and community-owned infrastructure.
Tony explains how his journey took him from the Marine Corps and urban gardening to buying land in the Missouri Ozarks and developing a multi acre food forest filled with fruit, berries, herbs and perennial food crops. We explore his vision for communities where residents can grow food, learn practical skills, build their own homes, share resources and create systems designed around greater independence.
We also dig into one of the most unusual intersections I’ve encountered yet: Bitcoin meets permaculture. Tony describes plans involving Bitcoin mining, NFTs tied to real-world utility, decentralized organizational structures and community economics, including the idea of using mining revenue to offset community costs. In his vision, blockchain isn’t the destination. Its infrastructure supporting something physical: land, food, shelter and community.
Then we get practical. Tony discusses hempcrete, stone construction, A-frames, hobbit homes, tower homes, geodesic structures, off-grid energy, food preservation and much more.
And then, as tends to happen around here, the conversation gets into the tall grass. We explore sacred geometry, cymatics, healing architecture, sound and frequency, ancient structures, altered states, shamanic traditions, consciousness, shadow beings, the Kandahar Giant story, ancient Mesopotamia, Gilgamesh and other anomalous subjects.
These portions of the conversation represent Tony’s experiences, interpretations and speculative ideas. They’re presented here to explore, question and investigate, not as claims you’re required to accept.
That’s the point of this show. We’re past simply asking, “Is any of this real?”
The more useful question is: What can we do about it?
Can we grow more of our own food?
Can communities produce more of what they consume?
Can technology support decentralization instead of dependence?
Can architecture affect how we experience a space?
Can intuition and situational awareness be trained?
And what old skills might be worth putting back on the Utility Belt?
Tony’s project is particularly interesting because whether you agree with every idea or not, he is attempting something increasingly rare: building the experiment of a more full human life in the real world.

If this conversation gives you an idea you can actually use, share it with somebody who’s trying to build a more capable, self reliant life.
Talk to me in the comments: If you could recover ONE skill that modern life has outsourced for you, like growing food, building shelter, preserving food, reading the land, repairing things, raising animals, something else, what would it be?
And as always, Thanks for hangin.
