Five skiers were tragically discovered deceased on the Adler Glacier near Zermatt in the Swiss Alps on Sunday, May 25, 2025.  The discovery followed a report of abandoned skiing equipment near the Rimpfischhorn mountain summit a day earlier by hikers.  The victims were found at varying elevations on avalanche debris, suggesting they were caught in a significant snow slide.  This incident occurred during a period of unstable snow conditions and elevated avalanche risk, with recent snowfall followed by rapidly warming temperatures.  An investigation by Valais cantonal police and the public prosecutor's office is underway to determine the precise circumstances and formally identify the deceased, whose nationalities have not yet been disclosed.
