If you want to improve your self-confidence, and if you are focusing on what's being shared on the Internet in the past few weeks, then you will find a lot of advice such as self-acceptance, learning to love yourself, knowing your values, knowing your principles, and all of these kinds of stuff available on the Internet. And I am telling you right now ‘’No. They will not be effective, and they will not work with you.’’
While these types of advice are very effective and very important in the process of improving your self-confidence in general, but they will not work with you because as a normal human being, you want the fastest road to improving your self-confidence.
And these types of advice can work, but work only in collaboration with a coach or a consultant, or if you are willing to do it in the long term and if you are patient enough.
The golden rule of self-confidence is that you choose a specific area, define a specific skill that you want to improve in this area, and then you practice this skill. While practicing, you will get feedback. You correct & modify, and then do it again, over, and over and over and over until you become better and with becoming better you will also become more confident.
And most people’s main problem is that they never start. They want to be great swimmers without even dipping a toe in the water. So, if you have a problem, because you are worried to take a specific step or because you cannot stay consistent or because you are lazy or anything else, then hire a coach or a consultant or get an accountability partner to work with you.
The second thing is, if you are confident in a specific area, that does not mean that you are automatically confident in every other area. But by being confident in a specific area, makes it easier for you to adopt the right mindset and to say to yourself ''maybe I can learn and get better in this new area'', and to be open to new experiences and to practice some specific skills until you get better.
And again, self-acceptance, learning to love yourself, focusing on your values and principles...etc.. are all great things and they work. But they will not work with you immediately because most people want something that works as fast as possible and can show them that they are making progress. And these things need time and patience.
How to stop worrying & to start living?
If you are not capable of disconnecting, or in other words, if you are not capable of stopping yourself from thinking about work-related issues, or your challenges, or your problems, or your next bills while you are sitting with your family and friends, then this episode is for you.
Because in this episode, I will share with you two things or concepts or ideas that if you understood correctly, can change your perspective, and they can help you to live more in the moment.
Your brain is working hard, most of the time, trying to predict the future. The brain wants to feel fully certain and see the way or the road ahead. And this is unfortunately not possible in our day to day life.
So, you have to understand that every time that you will be trying to take one step forward and in a dark area or a street that you never walked through before, your brain will trick you and tell you ‘‘stop. Stay in your place because this is safer. I know I can predict what can happen in this area or territory, but I cannot predict if you go outside of this area what can happen there. I want you safe. I want to protect you.’’
So, here is what I want you to do when you are trying to handle your fears.
First, understand that with every new road, opportunity, or step, you will always feel uncertain. And if you feel uncertain about this new road, you will have your fears. And this uncertainty will trigger your biggest and wildest fear to appear and try to stop you from moving forward.
The second thing is, regardless of this fear, I want you to move forward.
After thinking and analyzing the situation and even with your fears, I want you to take a leap of faith and to move forward.
The third thing. When your brain starts tricking you and tells you ‘‘I am uncertain about the future. I do not know what is going to happen. And this scary thing can happen to you and your life will be over.’’, and all of these things, I want you to start speaking to yourself and your brain and to say ‘‘maybe this is the case, but I will handle it when it happens.’’
Do not try to expect bad scenarios. Say to yourself ‘‘when this thing happens, I will handle it on time when it appears or when it happens.’’
Most people say that they are missing motivation to achieve something important for them in their lives.
And in this episode, I will share with you the bottom line of motivation, and I promise you if you listen to what I am going to say today, you will not need to surf the Internet, or search, or even watch another YouTube episode or anything relevant to motivation.
Because here, you will get the bottom line.
When we speak about motivation, motivation is mainly about pleasure and pain. When people are motivated to do something, it is because they are either seeking pleasure or avoiding pain.
And when we translate this equation of Pleasure and Pain to actionable items that we can follow; it is translated into three things. These things summarize the word motivation.
And you must have these things or pass through these situations or phases in your life to feel motivated.
And these three things are ‘’a dream’’. This is point number one.
Second, ‘’the cost’’. A cost of something.
And the third is ‘’dissatisfaction’’.
Dream. Cost. Dissatisfaction.
