Poetry On Life

Happiness lies within

Listen Later

All that’s pretty may not smell nice

As, Handsome is what it does,

All we say may not be fact

There’s double Dutch and Greek buzz.

Many a slip ‘tween the cup and the lip

Distances, can so disarming be,

Closeness, never defined by the yard

The end of life is no mystery.

Everything green across the wall

Reveals one’s own state of mind,

Who ever barges into a neighbor's home

Might very different things, find.

We are our own best friends, no doubt

But, seldom do we meet the other,

Busy, as we are, as the buzzing bees

We always have time for another.

Our happiness lies within

And, up to us alone,

Only we can lighten the weight inside

Of the heart that’s heavy as stone.

Desiderata, a fact, a sermon never

‘Tis only two and two that makes a four,

Yes, we can do it, too, with bat and ball

But, a drowning ship never makes the shore.
