Just another game of the year podcast except this one is highly controversial and unhinged because neither Spiderman 2 or Baldurs Gate 3 even made my list, neither did Alan Wake 2! But two games from 1997 made my top 5, it's a wild list. Plus it's a top 13 games list not including a plethora of honorable mentions. Buckle up.

I've had this game on my radar for awhile now and I finally decided to give it a try. The game goes in depth upfront about everything that could possibly be triggering and I go through the list before starting the game. He Fucked The Girl Out Of Me, made by Taylor McCue, is a semi-autobiographical narrative visual novel about trauma and sex work made for the gameboy. The author explains how sex work impacted her life and changed her perception of the world. The game takes approximately 40 minutes to play from start to finish. I put all of my thoughts and feelings at the end and boy was there a lot of both but in short it feels good to share some LGBT art and this game is important. I hope you enjoy.

Monster Rancher might be the best monster raising simulator, I adore it and I can't stop playing it. There's also an anime about it and I love that too! It's centered around generating monsters from CDs. Luckily, the new switch port just lets you type the name of an album or artist. So let's get us a monster with a Rick Astley's classic Never Gonna Give You Up and raise them to be a champion!

Sometime before the year 2277 there was a man named Gary who survived a nuclear fallout by seeking shelter in an underground vault. To kill time he studied and tinkered until he accidentally discovered how to clone, so naturally he cloned himself, so he can be everywhere at once but unbeknownst to him the clones were unstable, but that's not the important part of the story, no. The important part is a few clones went missing, vanishing out of an air tight underground bunker. None of the other Gary's knew how they escaped but in reality they got thrown into an alternate dimension, into a cataclysm of their own! Shadow Tower is From Software's brutal, forgotten masterpiece that's been overlooked for way too long. So I played through the entire thing (spoiler, I loved it) and I had a lot of thoughts. So let's discuss all the interesting mechanics and do a deep dive of the lore and theorize on what I think might be the biggest unsolved gaming mystery!

Phantasy Star is the perfect game that Sega somehow made perfecter with this Sega Ages version that adds so many quality of life stuff! And I finally got it with extra gold points, so let's play it and talk about it and the series as a whole because I love Phantasy Star and I need more of it in my life but also I'm very scatterbrained and disjointed in this episode and I don't think I had one cohesive thought in this entire episode, I'm sorry, enjoy!
