Hello, I am Michael, your host, and today I switched roles and let Andreea interview me.
In today's episode, I am telling the story of my living abroad journey, that with me moving around into several U.S. states, then getting to experience a kibbutz lifestyle, in Israel, back in the '80s, and then becoming an expat partner by moving to Finland to live together with my now ex-wife.
All of these experiences helped me to embrace my mission and become an Expat Coach, helping others embrace their new expat life and overcome its specific challenges.
I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did.

How much impact does moving abroad puts on the relationship for many couples after they move abroad. What changes and why?
In today's episode, I am exploring the ups and downs of moving abroad as a couple how the move impacts the dynamic between the partners.
Many couples that I had the chance to talk to saw the move as stressful and they noticed started more fights and misunderstandings and some of them even decided to move back home in under one year since the moment they arrived. In other cases, the move and its implications was so heavy that some even got a divorce.
When couples move abroad, a great deal of attention is focussed upon the practicalities of moving overseas and settling in.
So what are the extra strains that moving abroad puts on a relationship? Listen to today's episode as I am going through them, one by one.
Hopefully, this will help you overcome them by detailing some practical tools and insights.

Kara decided to take a leap of faith and move with her family of 5 to Guam, an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. They traded the typical American midwestern lifestyle from Tennessee with the island life for almost two years now and they cannot be happier for this decision.
She shares with us how hard it was for them to make the decision and what impact it had over their life, what's a typical day on the island, what were and maybe still are the struggles of being an expat in a place so remote from the mainland, but also the amazing benefits and come with living on a tourists island, full of life and local festivities.

Going from the developing world to the developed world. The struggles and successes.
On today's show, we had an amazing guest with such an inspiring story.
Tania was born in Kenya, from an English father and a Malagasy (Madagascar) mother. She moved to several African countries throughout her childhood and teenage years and then moved to Germany 5 years ago together with her life partner.
Her biggest cultural shock was coming from the fact that the European lifestyle, the one associated with a developed country lifestyle, and the African lifestyle were so different. We discuss in detail those differences on the podcast, so listen in to find out how she managed to adapt.
