If stupid is as stupid does, then 2020 sure was. We take a brief break from the serious side of podcasting, whatever that means, to review this year in stupid. Other podcasts will talk about the highs and lows of 2020, but we just want to talk about how dumb it was, and trust us, it was dumb! We talk about President Stupid and his stupid followers, as well as the stupid conspiracy theories that gave all of the idiots an avenue to be so stupid. We also discuss the recent obsession with escapism, and a return to "a simpler time", which has really never existed. What are Americans running from? What motivates them to turn to fantasy? Why are so many people unsatisfied with what they have? Why does reality seem to repel Americans so much?  And, of course, why are people so damn dumb? Apart from the obvious reasons, we go into a bit of the psychology of end times philosophies. We discuss why the sense of impending doom can actually bring comfort to those who are desperate, especially the needy. When one is suffering immensely, it can be reassuring knowing that there is something more to life than what you have. However, this can be dangerous as well. It can motivate people to devalue the life that they have now, which, in reality, may be the only one they ever have.  From drinking bleach, to hoarding led based hand sanitizer, 2020 was quite possibly the dumbest year ever. Has dumb had its day in America? Maybe for a little while. But, as the saying goes, you can't fix stupid. What is our new year's resolution at MCP? Be less stupid!
