مری فطرت حقیقت آشنا معلوم ہوتی ہے
نظر پڑتی ہے جس شے پر خدا معلوم ہوتی ہے

سراپا سوز لیکن جاں فزا معلوم ہوتی ہے
صدائے سازِ دل حق کی صدا معلوم ہوتی ہے
۳
بہت خوش ظرف و خوش بیں ہے فضائے وادیٔ غربت
بظاہر ہمدم و درد آشنا معلوم ہوتی ہے
۴
یہ کیسی زندگی ہے اے اسیرِ دامِ خوش فہمی
جفائے باغباں بھی اب وفا معلوم ہوتی ہے
۵
میں اس منزل میں ہوں اب گام فرسا اے زہے قسمت
نگاہِ راہزن بھی رہنما معلوم ہوتی ہے

یہ رنگِ شعر گوئی رازؔ یہ طرزِ غزل خوانی
تری فطرت حقیقت آشنا معلوم ہوتی ہے

मेरी फ़ितरत हक़ीक़त-आश्ना मा’लूम होती है
नज़र पढती है जिस शय पर ख़ुदा मा’लूम होती है
२
सरापा सोज़ लेकिन जाँ-फ़िज़ा मा’लूम होती है
सदा-ए साज़-ए दिल हक़ की सदा मा’लूम होती है
३
बहुत ख़ुश-ज़र्फ़-ओ-ख़ुश-बीं है फ़ज़ा-ए वादी-ए ग़ुर्बत
ब-ज़ाहिर हमदम-ओ-दर्द-आश्ना मा’लूम होती है

ये कैसी ज़िंदगी है अए असीर-ए दाम-ए ख़ुश-फ़हमी
जफ़ा-ए बाग़बाँ भी अब वफ़ा मा’लूम होती है
५
मैं उस मंज़िल में हूँ अब गाम-फ़र्सा अए ज़हे-क़िस्मत
निगाह-ए राहज़न भी रहनुमा मा’लूम होती है
६

This is a statement that the divine is manifest in everything around us. Thus, the poet claims that his nature is such that it can discern the truth. Wherever he turns his gaze he sees god, reflecting the presence of the divine in everything in the cosmos. Compare this with josh malihabadi who views this tendency as entirely subjective …
ye duniya zah’n ki baaziigari maa’loom hoti hai
1.head to toe, embodiment 2.fire, passion, pain 3.life enhancing, invigorating 4.sound, call 5.musical instrument, music 6.truth
It is the embodiment of pain, but it still is life-giving; the sound of my heart appears to be the sound of truth i.e., conscience, the divine voice in his heart.
1.good capacity for patience, elegance, grace 2.good to look at, cheerful 3.atmosphere, ambience 4.valley, domain 5.poverty 6.apparently 7.friend, sharing 8.familiar with pain
Sometimes ba-zaahir is used to mean apparently implying that this is only apparent on the surface but the reality is different. I don’t think it is used in that sense here. It is used to mean – even from the surface. Thus, the domain of poverty has ambience of good nature and cheer; even from the surface it can be seen that it knows what pain is and is friendly and helpful.

Perhaps baaGhbaaN can be taken to mean the beloved but there are other possibilities – political leadership or orthodoxy or god himself. (a)god – the baaGhbaaN has put us in the baaGh-this world. We deceive ourselves into thinking that this is a gift – vafaa – fulfilling of a promise but in fact it is torture because of separation from the divine soul. (b)beloved – in urdu poetic convention even the torture and indifference of the beloved is considered to be a gift to be treasured. Perhaps this is a sarcastically called Khush-fahmi – self-deception. A similar interpretation can be placed using the other options.

Here zah’e-qismat is used in the sarcastic sense. Thus, look at my luck, I am at a stage of life that my feet are so worn out, that I am so tired, that the gaze of robber looks like that of the guide i.e., I am so tired that I am willing to be deceived.

There are two meaning of haqiiqat-aashna leading to two slightly different readings of the she’r. Interpreted as ‘truth-discerning’ it gives the she’r a lofty, sufiyaana status. Interpreted as ‘realistic’, it gives the shaa’er a down-to-earth character. Thus, your style of composing verse, your way to reciting Ghazal, O raaz, it appears that your nature is haqiiqat-aashna, with its two interpretations.
