Publisher's Summary:
For years FBI agent Cameron Daggett has been on the trail of an international triggerman responsible for planting at least two nearly undetectable explosive devices on airplanes. When a strange murder takes place in a Seattle aircraft training installation, Daggett suspects that his nemesis is involved.
The man who was murdered was a specialist in training pilots to fly the Duhning 959-600 - a new breed of ultra-sophisticated aircraft - and he was killed in a Duhning flight simulator. Was the killer trying to be taught to pilot one of these super jets? How is this connected to Daggett's recent discovery of sophisticated altitude detonators? Is Anthony Kort - Daggett's prey - about to strike again?
Using the most intricate and complex forensic techniques, the aerodynamic and technical principles that make monster jets stay aloft, and sheer cop's reasoning, Daggett picks up Kort's trail. He is joined by forensic experts, aerodynamic engineers, and criminal psychologists - but it comes down to Daggett, and Daggett alone, to see the pattern in the seemingly endless technical detail and stop a tragedy before it takes place. But Kort is smart, and driven by a motivation that Daggett cannot possibly understand. And when Daggett gets close, Kort makes it personal.
Hard Fall is a breathlessly paced thriller, an intellectual and technical game of cat and mouse, and a modern classic of suspense fiction.

A gripping suspense story with memorable characters that will keep your attention
I downloaded this book to my Kindle to take with me on our Thanksgiving trip and have found my attention gripped and held for hours on the train. In my opinion, Ridley Pearson's novels are uneven, some really keep my attention and others don't. The crimes or criminals he chooses to write about can be off-putting and disgusting in some of his books, not as human and multi-faceted as in his best stories. This is one of his novels that I will remember with vivid characters, a suspenseful plot and excellent writing.
I tried, but couldn't get out of the blocks. Not terrible, just not engaging. Turned it off out of boredom.
So bored by minute 20 I turned it off. Bummer I spent my monthly audible token on this one. I love aviation and thrillers, but this was a snoozer.
I recommend it!
Great read - very engaging from the start and held my interest throughout! I'm really enjoying Ridley's writing, and this was no exception.
Absolutely riveting. .
Tempted to read in just one sitting. Well paced with enigmatic characters and sense of intrigue. Villain was strong and unpredictable to the end.
Ridley Pearson is hard to beat
One of my favorite authors and he didn't disappoint. Hard Fall is a well written book. There is enough twists & turns to keep a reader interested right until the end. Bringing back Lou Boldt was a plus!
