Prolonged carnality will cause your heart (your mind) to be scarred over and become calloused and hardened. “Having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them because of the blindness of their heart” (Eph 4:17-20). The Word of God can’t be learned and stored in your soul without the filling and empowerment of the Holy Spirit. To get rid of a hardened heart you have to use rebound (1 John 1:9) to handle sin and let the Word of God flow into your soul to wash out the pollution.
