Compassion

Luke 10: 25-37

This week as we continue our Fall focus around what it means to "Think Like Jesus." Sunday, we consider God's timeless call to those who follow the LORD - to be people of compassion. To be those whose hearts are moved by the pain and suffering of others and who then respond in the work of mercy and justice. Scripture will be our guide with Jesus' parable of the Good Samaritan keeping us grounded. The hope is for the Holy Spirit to move and prompt us to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the circles God has called us into. Join us as we are challenged by God's word.

Motivation matters. That is why Jesus calls us to more than simply acts of mercy and compassion. In the Gospel of God’s Grace, we receive a “new heart” – think: a transformed motivational center for living – that rightly bears it’s fruit by the power of the Spirit. Compassionate acts earn us nothing from God, but they may point to Jesus, the Great Heart-Changer.
