By night fall, more friends bring a report and finally, dinner and a Bible Study with the Risen Jesus. This is the journey of Peter as he moves forward to being found in, formed by and following Jesus.

Resurrection Encounters

John 21: 15-19

Easter Sunday is the day we remember and celebrate that Christ has risen from the grave! After Jesus resurrection he appears to his disciples on multiple occasions beginning with the women at the tomb. This Easter we will consider how these resurrection encounters completely changed the trajectory of the disciples' lives and then ponder how an encounter with the living Jesus might change our own.

Just When You Thought You Had Things Under Control

Matthew 21:10–11, Luke 19:41–42 & John 12:16

There are times that “all is right with the world” and everything seems to make sense to me. At other times – acts of injustice or seasons of suffering come to mind – life is a thousand-piece puzzle swept off the table and scattered through the room. Nothing makes sense and everything is out of my control. Holy Week begins a rapid-fire chain of events that show us our Hope and God’s solution for our experience of loss and confusion. The first step is realizing that we actually don’t understand everything that is going on around us.

The King We Need, but Often Don’t Want

Matthew 21:28-46

When Jesus enters Jerusalem at the start of Holy Week He comes as the True King that we need, and yet by the end of the week a King the people didn’t want. Jesus’ kingdom and reign will disrupt the “empires” in our lives. The question for us is how will we respond to this disruption? Will we repent and believe, or will we resist?

King Who Loves

John 12: 12-19

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week when Christians remember the final week of Jesus earthy ministry and life. The week begins remembering Jesus' entry into Jerusalem as King with the people waving palms with shouts of "Hosanna!" What we will explore again is the King who rode into the city that day was not the king the people expected. Instead of being the King who ruled with power, he was the King who loved with sacrifice. This Holy Week we will use John's Gospel as our guide as we remember the events of this final week through the perspective of Peter.
