May 28, 2025 2016 ck3 - Key Force Testing
I'm testing actuation force for few keys on my old modified keyboard CK3.
Usually regular keyboards (and most mechanical too) have about 50gf (gram force).
I'm using weights of 4.5 gram, glued 2 pieces so 9g (2 smaller sets).
And 1 set of 3 pieces so 13,5g - this is Alt key press value.
L key neede 2x 9g so 18g. Rest of keys needed 3+2 weights x 4.5 so 22.5g.
This is much softer and nicer to press. Also less tedious and healthier (lesser risk of e.g. Repetitive Strain Injury).
This was originally an A4 Tech KX-100 keyboard, I cut off most of rubber domes, glued them to keys, and I'm also using Teensy 3.1 with an OLED, shown in my other videos.
Weights came with a Logitech G5 mouse.

This is a demonstration of my old modified keyboard's features.
Firstly I'm showing Menu and sequences list (View). Then adding a new one at position 2, that will type: "Hello World!".
I already have others saved, e.g. typing make,enter.
Also note few macros at positions 3 to 5.
The 5th does press Ctrl-Z (undo).
At 0:59 I'm showing page 3/3 with other sequences.
After that I'm pressing Backspace which reloads previously saved settings from EEPROM (was 124 Bytes).
Left blue LED is for layer 2 (sequences use).
Right orange is for layer 3 (mouse move, player, F13-F24 extra keys etc. I forgot to show these).
The program on left shows keys press/hold. Note that when I use macros or sequences they show up very quickly.
At 1:35 you can see Help. At 1:52 is the keyboard Status page. It shows protocol (Boot or NKRO), current Layers stack and mouse move variables.
Later since 2:04 I'm showing mouse moving and acceleration using keys. Also mouse buttons pressing using keys.
Lastly at 3:05 shortly showing Plasma (couldn't resist).

This is a demonstration of my old keyboard's built in game.
I'm showing all of 9 game presets and lastly custom game setup:
0:00 Quick look at the Help
0:21 Tiny 3 (up to 3 cubes in a block)
0:40 Basic 4/2 (up to 4, diagonal 2)
1:21 Small 4+/4 (max diagonal directions)
2:03 Tetris 4 (meh)
2:40 Pentis 5/1
3:58 Sixtis 6
4:53 Septis 7+/1 (+ means more than 7 cubes possible, with bias to lower values)
6:45 Octis 8+/1
7:46 Huge 12 (not very playable)
8:30 Custom game parameters (field size, block generation etc), unplayable, just to show possibility.
Borders are always cyclic (wrap around).
