Dr. Walsh is also lead scientist for the Regolith Development Working Group of the OSIRIS-REx mission and in charge of one of the four maps that will be produced to aid in sample site selection.

Professor Peiters is one of the pioneers of the use of remote sensing data coupled with laboratory experiments to understand the composition of Solar System rocky bodies.  She stated her career working on data from the Apollo missions and gives us an insight into her passion and a summary of her career accomplishments to date.

Coming to you from Manoa, Oahu, Hawai’i, I sat down with Prof. Jeff Gillis-Davis of the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. Prof. Gillis-Davis has a great passion for all things Moon, meaning the Earth’s moon, and as a research professor has a rather full life at home. However, he still makes the time to follow his passion and has served on three different space missions.

Coming to you from the Drake Building of the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, Dr. Kate Crombie and I spend time discussing the importance of the attitude of ‘just do it’ or rather ‘just go for it’ in life and how that concept has gotten her, in part, where she is today. She is the Data Archivist and Co-I for the OSIRIS-REx asteroid sample return mission and Co-I as a participating scientist for the Hayabusa2 asteroid sample return mission. Kate and I have also been friends for nearly 20 years and Kate’s partner is Dante S. Lauretta. Kate also discusses her life as a mother of two sons and life partner to Dante. Her formal training was that of a field geologist doing her PhD research in Egypt.

In this podcast, my first one, I discuss the subject of ‘Expression’ with my dear friend the artist Paul Pinkman. We talk about the relationship between science, art, and Buddhism through expression. Paul and I have been friends for 20 years and have watched each others lives and careers grow and change. Science does not live in a vacuum and Paul is someone in my life that is a constant reminder of how important it is to embellish being human.
