  • Was Hogwarts' Architect MORE POWERFUL than the Founders? - Harry Potter Theory
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing whether or not the architect who built Hogwarts was MORE POWERFUL than the school's four founding members. For those of you who may not know, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was not actually built by Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin--the powerful witches and wizards who founded it. In reality, when the castle was constructed in the late 900s, an unknown wizard who was not among the founding members was commissioned to design the school, and it was he who was behind the planning and building of the actual castle.Although the exact identity of this mysterious architect remains unknown to this day, what we do know is that he was a wizard--and not a witch--due to the statue of him located in the Entrance Hall of Hogwarts Castle. The statue is made of gold and depicts the architect holding a model of the castle in one hand, and charts depicting the school's design in the other. Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory

  • Small Details We HOPE the Harry Potter HBO Show Will Include
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing the brand new television adaptation of the Harry Potter series that has just been officially announced by HBO Max.On April 12, the WarnerBrosDiscovery's direct-to-consumer offering shared on Twitter:"Your Hogwarts letter is here. Max has ordered the first ever #HarryPotter scripted television series, a faithful adaptation of the iconic books. #StreamOnMax"The tweet was posted alongside a brief trailer of the newly ordered series, which didn't give too much insight into what fans can expect from the series--other than a whole heck of a lot of nostalgia for fans of the original novels and films. And while I thoroughly enjoyed the movies, it's no surprise that the film adaptations were unable to include EVERY DETAIL from the novels. It simply would've made the movies too long. And, while I suppose the writers and producers could have split each and every book into multiple-part films--as they did with the seventh book, which had a part one and part two as movies--this would've left much to be desired at the end of each film, considering it would only take you part way through a novel's story arc. So, all that said, my HOPE for the television series is that it will include A LOT more than the movies ever did. Beloved scenes from the novels that never made it into the films, additional backstory on certain characters that the movies didn't have time for...and more...You can check out my more in-depth video on 10 things the films missed that the show NEEDS TO INCLUDE if you want my complete list of this type of thing.Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory

  • How Much Money Did Hermione Granger Have? - Harry Potter Theory
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we're discussing just how RICH Hermione Granger was during the Harry Potter series. While both the affluence of powerful wizarding dynasties like the Malfoys and the lack of wealth of families like the Weaslesy were made abundantly clear through glimpses of wardrobe, magical accessories and ancestral homes, the monetary standing of many of the series' Muggle-born witches and wizards remained somewhat of a mystery. For example, in regards to Hermione specifically, we barely saw her family home and, since she was Muggle-born, her possessions were quite difficult to quantify against the magical belongings of her peers. So, how RICH was the Granger family? Well, I did a bit of digging, and I've come to the conclusion that, while they may not have been the MOST WEALTHY of people, they were definitely upper-middle class. • Dumbledore Was an ANIMAGUS - Harry Potter Theory
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're going to be discussing Albus Dumbledore and Transfiguration. More specifically- we're going to be honing in on one particular branch of transfiguration- the branch surrounding becoming an Animagus. An animagus, simply put, is a witch or wizard that is able to transform themselves into an animal and back again. Animagus is a combination of the word "animal" and the Greek word "magus", which together form "animal wizard". 'Animagus' should not be confused with 'Metamorphmagus' which refers to witches or wizards who are born with the ability to change their form at will. There are quite a few known Animagi exhibited throughout the series, including James Potter- a stag, Sirius Black- a dog, Peter Pettigrew- a rat, Rita Skeeter- a beetle, and Minerva McGonagall- a cat, just to name a few.Now you might be thinking- that's not a lot of people, surely there are MORE witches and wizards that are animagi, right?Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory

  • What Happened to Aunt Marge? - Harry Potter Explained
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing what happened to Aunt Marge, the rather unpleasant relative of the Dursleys. As the older sister to Vernon Dursley, Harry's uncle by marriage, Marjorie Eileen Dursley was known to Harry Potter since he was a chi*ld as simply "Aunt Marge". Due to his actual blood relation in the Dursley family being Veron's wife, Petunia--who was the older sister of Harry's mother Lily--the fact that Harry was made to call Marge his aunt was a bit of an affront in itself. After all, she was completely terrible to Harry, being an extremely prejudiced and outspoken woman who believed Harry's parents had been useless, unemployed individuals, rather than the brave witch and wizard that they were--a fact she liked to bring up to Harry all the time. Now, considering that Aunt Marge would insult Harry and his dead parents on a consistent basis during her visits to the Dursley home, it's no wonder that Harry would lose his temper with her on just about every trip she made to Number 4 Privet Drive. And, of course, from the beginning of the series, we see what happens when Harry gets lost in his emotions--especially, extreme emotions. Seemingly inexplicable things would happen. For example, when Harry accidentally made the glass on the snake exhibit disappear at the zoo after he became angry with Dudley. Although odd at the time, as we progressed through The Philosopher's Stone, we came to know that these supposed "oddities" were actually Harry's magical abilities unintentionally coming out. In the case of the glass at the zoo, Harry wasn't even aware that he was a wizard at the time and therefore didn't recognize the event as being magical. But by the time we meet Aunt Marge in The Prisoner of Azkaban, we're well aware of what can happen when Harry experiences intense emotion. And so, as Aunt Marge hurls insult after insult at Harry about his deceased parents and their supposed inadequacies, she aggravates him to the point that he blows her up like a large barrage balloon. One such character is a Sebastian Sallow, a haughty and determined fifth-year Slytherin student, who also happens to have an ailing twin sister by the name of Anne. Throughout the game, players begin to uncover the reasons behind Sebastian's unpleasant demeanour, with the primary discovery being that his twin was cursed by dark magic and he will stop at nothing to find a cure for her.But what exactly happened to Anne? • Did Snape PLAN for Harry to Find His Potions Textbook? - Harry Potter Theory
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we're whether or not Professor Severus Snape PLANTED his potions textbook for Harry Potter to find in the sixth instalment of the series: Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince. Now, this is an interesting question because, in my opinion, it can be explained away in either the affirmative or the negative. To start with, let's take a look at the affirmative. Say, Snape did in fact leave his textbook for Harry to find. Why would he have done this? What motivations would he have had?..Let's dive in!Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory

  • Why Can't Muggles See Hogwarts? - Harry Potter Explained
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing how it is that Hogwarts Castle and the surrounding grounds are hidden from Muggles and the outside world. When we're first introduced to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry alongside an 11-year-old Harry Potter in The Philosopher's Stone, we learn that a once impoverished and deprived young Harry will be living in a spectacular Scottish castle of old. Described as a huge and sprawling castle that's seven stories high, Hogwarts is complete with one hundred and forty-two staircases, multiple towers, turrets, and even very deep dungeons all built in the Early Middle Ages. As the story progresses, we learn that Hogwarts was founded in the 10th Century by four famed wizards by the names of Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin, and that it is regarded by many as the best magical institution in the wizarding world.Sounds pretty impressive, doesn't it? But then, how is it that such a magnificent building--not to mention the sprawling grounds that include the expansive and magical Forbidden Forest--could go unnoticed by neighbouring Muggles? • Why Did Quirrell Join Voldemort? - Harry Potter Theory

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing why the timid and rather innocent-looking Professor Quirinus Quirrell joined Voldemort and attempted to kill a young Harry Potter.

As you may recall, throughout the Harry Potter series, we meet a many number of Defence Against the Dark Arts Professors. This was a position that seemed to be somewhat cursed at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as no one witch or wizard held onto the role for very long. Indeed, as Harry makes his way through Hogwarts, we are introduced to a new Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor each and every year. Quirinus Quirrell was simply the first.
