In this episode of the teen and tween parenting podcast we talk about why harshness happens at home for communities which are marginalized and oppressed and the need to do the exact opposite at home with a warm, loving and fun environment so they are confident and secure enough to take on the challenges and equipped to change it.  Otherwise they generally will feel angry, insecure and unsafe. 

We also talk about coaching my much younger cousin in jail to manage his mind and know there are some things that he has control over even in that very volatile environment.  He is able to decide how he wants to show up and who he wants to become.
