After years of King Saul ruling with selfish ambition and disobedience to God, David was appointed to the throne, which would later bring restoration to Israel. Despite his great sins against God, King David humbled himself and consistently turned back to Him in repentance. In our walk with God, we may be led astray, but walking in repentance allows us to run back and follow through in obedience to His will.

In the same way Israel felt God had abandoned them, we may also feel overwhelmed by this thought in our present lives. Even when Mary and Sarah were unsure about the promises God had made to them, they were assured that He would follow through.
