Sunday 8th April 2018 Preacher: Rev Emmanuel Titi- Lartey Title: Breaking Strongholds Isaiah 10:27 The anointing you respect is that which can save you Acts 10:38 What is a stronghold? Psalm 9:9 A stronghold may be negative or positive. May be something that protects you. May be something that has control over your life/ rules over a person Strongholds can be generational, tribal, territorial, can be a mind-set contrary to God's Word, bad habits, etc. A stronghold is secure and not easily broken into However, every stronghold can be broken in Jesus 2 Corinthians 10:4 Strongholds can only be broken by those willing and determined to fight The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but spiritual 1 Timothy 6:12; Ephesians 6:10-18 Seek God every day, not just in church Be strong in the Lord, by 1. Being obedient to the Lord 2. Being humble You must put on the whole armour of God. To break strongholds: 1. Recognise there is a stronghold. Be honest to yourself and to God in dealing with strongholds. Be sincere. You must know what you're dealing with. Expose the works of darkness, bring it to light. That alone is a great step. You must open up, and that calls for humility 2. Humility- James 4:5-7. Submit to God. That is wisdom 3. Repent. Turn from that evil. Disconnect from it 4. Seek help- tell somebody who's anointed to help you 5. Pray and fast, and build new foundations. Isaiah 58:9, Matthew 17:21 Joshua 6- the walls of Jericho fell flat because 1. The Israelites were obedient to God's Word- learn to obey God 2. They operated by faith - they believed, though it didn't make sense 3. They lifted up praise unto God A stronghold that is not dealt with makes your life miserable, takes yoy far away from God, robs you of your blessings, and can take you to hell.
