What is Stewardship? Well, biblical stewardship recognizes everything God has entrusted to us is His and He wants whatever He has entrusted to us to multiply and serve His purposes.

We are familiar with stewarding failure, or stewarding loss. When someone goes through a difficult situation where things didn’t work out the way that they intended or they go through the loss of a job- we as Christians know how to surround them and weep with them, mourn with them, comfort and console them.

But when it comes to people of success, when they begin to discuss their challenges or difficulties, we typically respond with a harsh word – “must be nice.” Or “I wish I had your problems.”

Last week we discussed stewarding children and we ended by talking about developing character in our children and that you and I need to be examples of that righteous character.

Today Pastor Donnie would like to teach the “how” behind the “what.”

Descriptions such as “man of principle” and “woman of integrity” are assertions of character. A lack of character is recognized as moral deficiency, and persons lacking character tend to behave dishonestly, unethically, and uncharitably.

Character is what you really are, reputation is merely what people think you are.

Parenting doesn’t reach a certain plateau of ease after which we can relax and coast. If anything as our children get older, the stakes are higher. The difference is, when we steward parenthood in a Biblical way the difficult challenges won’t have the power to knock you off of your feet.

The Biblical concept of stewardship means we are caretakers of what God has given us.

Everything in your life, is God’s. He’s given it to you so that you may steward these things in a way that brings glory to Him.

When we steward what God has given us, It tends to open the door of continued blessing throughout our lives.

The Context of the Constitution/Bill of Rights was about empowering the people and limiting the Government.

Stewardship was established from the beginning. Adam and Eve were told to work the land - steward God’s creation. To utilize what God has provided and allow it to grow.

The word of God was given to us with the expectation that we will be stewards of it and allow growth to happen in us but also through us.

The Bible, the word of God, is one of the most influential books of human history. It explains and answers the questions, why do we exist? How are we to live? What is the purpose of our lives?

When some people think of prepping, what comes to mind is images of strange people wearing tinfoil hats huddled in a shelter while they wait for the mothership to return.

For others, thoughts of a recluse living in a one-room shack in the middle of rural America come to mind.

Most today hear one definition for prepping and live their life on one level of prepping.

Christian culture today tends to gravitate towards teachings about God’s blessing and to a degree that’s fine- God’s blessing is a very real thing. We have to be careful that we don’t shun the prosperity Gospel so much so that it robs us of the reality that God does bless us.

The problem is we often talk about God’s blessing and how it ties to generosity and that’s a very real Biblical principle - but we often fail to recognize that in order to continue to experience God’s blessing – God’s continued blessing requires faithful stewardship.
