In Philippians 4:1-7, Paul gives the Philippians timeless instructions about maintaining church unity and how Christians can receive a peace that surpasses all understanding in the face of life's difficulties.

The Philippians lived in a world of paganism, idolatry, and emperor worship. They had to live intentionally to avoid becoming like the world around them. So do we. Philippians 3:17-21 tells us how to become like Jesus in a world that is far from Him.

Paul resisted complacency and despair, pressing on toward God's call for his life. He told us how he did it so that we can do it too.
