“Evangelism” is one of those terms that has been used so much that we have either over complicated this topic or over simplified this definition and either way we have ended up throwing around this term without really understanding what it means to evangelize.

As we head into the new year, in the next few weeks we will be discussing our 2021 vision as a church.

The church is meant to be more than tradition, the church is meant to be more than religion, the church is meant to be alive, active and outwardly focused.

The reason that a church will grow in 2021 is that its people are growing. A healthy growing Church doesn’t just have Sunday passion.

The reality is that we believe God has plans for our future, as a matter of fact our culture right now is preparing for the future, new year- new life goals, career goals, parental goals, fitness goals.

The reality is, just like the Christmas tree is a sign, and the cross that was made of a tree is a sign, this season is built upon signs, and following signs.

The Shepherds were given signs to follow and they did and they eventually found the source.

Then there’s the wisemen, A part of the job of these wise men was to look for signs of heaven.

Often during this season we primarily focus on making sure everyone around us knows the meaning of Christmas, which is admirable and is a part of our purpose. Absolutely.

But there’s a balance that comes into the big picture, where we must not only profess the message of Christ, but exemplify the message of our saviors birth.

We have this unrealistic perception of the Christmas story that everyone was anxiously expecting the savior to be born that night. That it’s completely normal for shepherds to be invited into the inner circle of Jesus arrival and that Bethlehem was the choice location.
