In honor of Mother's Day, think of all the hats mothers wear- A mother is ONE person doing MANY different things, and we are thankful for them. Our passage for Sunday's sermon, Hebrews 2-10-18, talks about several of the -spiritual hats- that Jesus wears, giving more proof that he is greater than the angels.

Hebrews 1 gave many amazing descriptions of Jesus' glory and superiority. As we come to Hebrews 2, that train of thought continues but in a surprising way. This sermon from Hebrews 2-5-9 explains Jesus' -Unexpected Glory.-

Angels are INCREDIBLY powerful, and you have probably heard stories of how they have protected people from grave danger. When the Epistle to Hebrews was written, the Jewish people had a high degree of respect for and interest in angels. The sermon on Hebrews 1-4-14 shows how Jesus is vastly superior to angels and other things that our society elevates like the first-century Jewish audience did-and why that matters.

When someone decides to follow Christ, sometimes they encounter opposition from family or friends. In the first century, a group of Jewish believers were being threatened and persecuted because they chose to follow Jesus, and they were tempted to turn back. To help them persevere in their newfound Christian faith, God inspired someone to write them an epistle, which is found in our Bibles as Hebrews. On Sunday, April 16, we start a lengthy journey through this challenging book, one that is relevant to us in our society that increasingly pushes back HARD against Christians.
