God has rescued his people out of Egypt by the Passover, brought them through the Red Sea, and met them at Mt. Sinai. He has given them his law and they have promised to be faithful to Him. The story of the book of Numbers boils down to one key truth- God is faithful to his people, even though they keep rebelling against Him.

Malachi, like other OT prophets, verbally spoke messages from God, and the book of Malachi consists of six of these speeches. God, the final author of all of Scripture, included and preserved these six in the Bible so that people of ALL generations could continue to hear His words.
