Also special shoutout to all the people who’ve been listening to us since day one. You make us two simple hoes feel real special.
One thing that people don’t tell you is how f#@cking hard it is to find friends after you graduate college. In a city of 8 million people you would think it would be easy…NOT. But don’t worry we’re here to help. In this episode listen to how Daryl did a social experiment on how to make a “work friend” a “friend friend”, and using a multitude of apps to meet (not hookup) with strangers, while Arize gives his take on how he Maya Angelou’d his way into several people’s DM’s…for friendship.
Daryl's parents are from the Phillipines but he was born in NYC. Arizé grew up in Antigua then became a US citizen in his 20s. We discuss the trials of immigrating to the US during the 1990s vs today: financial, cultural & emotional. Hear our epic families' stories (Daryl's mom knows Arabic!) and learn what motivates all sorts of people to chase the American Dream.
Hew! We expose ourselves this time. Between parental pressure to find a mate and a seemingly grim dating scene, we go into our love lives. Daryl goes deep with his past affairs and Arizé stays on the shore with his lack of lol. Still, the greatest love of all, is self-love and you should never jeopardize who you are for who you want.
LMAO. Matt Dietz, a professional comedian, cracks jokes with us about the jokester industry. He works in tech like us, but his real talents lie in stand-up. Hear about his advice for novices, shows he's bombed, the hot NYC comedy clubs and Arizé being the target of our jokes throughout the whole thing. A funny episode about chasing your dreams even if others don't see your vision.
Today, meet Chris (Insta : @chrispaulmorales). A double major in Accounting and Economics, who did a complete 180 and strutted out into Television. He lays out how to begin an acting career, self-esteem challenges in the Hollywood world and a hilarious moment on the set of Madame Secretary. It is one of many interviews we plan to have, discussing chasing your dreams vs being practical.
Fico score? Equifax? Credit Utilization? Words we hear on a daily basis but don’t really know what they mean. Listen to us give a “explain-it-like-I'm-five” TED Talk about the irony of going into debt to make money, how credit cards are a necessary evil, and that love might actually cost a pretty penny.... Also listening to how Arizé pronounces “FICO” makes this episode a gem.
To all the people who’ve ever been victims by head mean girl her self Regina - IMPOSTER SYNDROME - George, Please raise your hand. Listen to our hilarious but poignant stories of when we thought we were never good enough and scared of being looked at as a fraud. Spoiler alert, everyone has had one time in their lives where they’ve shared that imposter syndrome feeling, and if a person who says otherwise is a goddamn liar.
Our first guest, Shervin Abdolhamidi (Insta: @roaming_enginerd), joined us in our studio. He is an engineer turned international backpacker, having visited 40+ countries from Guatemala to Vietnam. Tune in for funny travel stories, tips for thrifty globetrotting and details on how seeing the world has enlightened him, and how it could do the same for you.
Our struggles come from various angles (finances, work, family) and often we need to de-stress. So, we dug up an array of ways to remain zen, from healthy diets, to social pruning and to finding a licensed therapist. Listen in and discover how to take care of your most precious asset... you.
