Barcelona-based producer Ikari debuts on NIX with When It’s Over, a tightly constructed EP that brings together the weight of low-end pressure with crisp percussive detail. Built for the club but with a strong emotional pull, the release folds bass-rooted aesthetics into tightly wound techno frameworks, led by carefully sculpted sound design and a deep sense of mood.

Each track acts as a standalone world, but together they form a cohesive whole, driven by feeling rather than formula. There is a subtle melancholy running through the release, not overbearing, but present in the tonal shifts, textural tension and soft-release moments that flicker throughout. It is a record that sharpens Ikari’s already distinctive voice, pushing his technical process further without losing the raw edge that defines his work.

On When It’s Over, the focus isn’t on maximalism. Every choice feels deliberate: harmonic details, spatial effects, rhythmic structure. All of it is aimed at stirring something visceral in the listener. It is the sound of an artist locked into his own narrative, inviting us to step in.

Mitsubishi Fuso is the first single from Ikari’s debut EP for NIX, out on 4th of July. The full EP follows on the 18th of August as a limited stamped white label, mastered and cut by Tim Xavier at Manmade Mastering.

After contributing a standout track to the label’s Purveyors Of The Groove Vol. 3 compilation in 2023, he now returns with a highly cerebral yet anthemic and dance floor-destined 5-tracker EP: Cratea.

The A-side kicks off with the EP’s standout cut, 'Refiction', a sinister, forward-marching piece laced with spooky, psychedelic vocals and dripping in LFOs and mind-boggling soundscapes.

It’s followed by the title track 'Cratea', shaped by steady bleeps and an evolving, echo-drenched synth that bounces erratically from start to finish, driven forward by thick claps and floaty rides.

On the flip, 'Origins' delivers a steady, hypnotic tool built on organic bass sounds, gnarly percussion, and wet vocal chops, peaking with four-to-the-floor claps that are sure to lock in a busy dance floor.

'Null Model' follows with a signature Regent groove, fusing driving 909 drums with a clever interplay of short synth stabs and warped-out voices, resulting in a deeply trippy, almost paranoid atmosphere.

Closing the record is 'Stealthless', a stripped-back yet uplifting techno tool, offering moments of synth euphoria and harmony while remaining deliberately restrained and minimal by design.

A versatile release made for different moments in the night, designed to guide dance floors through profound, body-moving journeys.

Best served on powerful sound-systems.

Across four original tracks, Marco channels the tension, urgency, and emotional gravity that have defined his sound over the years. We’ve brought in two key remixers to reinterpret Bailey’s vision through their own lenses: The Advent, an undisputed cornerstone of the genre, delivers a groove-laced rework that’s equal parts punch and finesse - a masterclass from a true pioneer; and Kaiser, one of the most distinctive voices in today’s generation of techno artists, strips things down and dials up the pressure with a deep, percussive take that hits with precision.

Perfo is the 450th guest of our original HATE Podcast series.

This mix is an attempt to cover and condense what's been on my mind, shaping it into a coherent narrative - a sort of speculative history of imagined futures. I wanted to reward patient listeners with something that gradually unfolds, something that at moments feels eschewing and idiosyncratic, playing with tone and rhythm in ways that contrast trends.

Supercharged drums hammer and shake in Björn Torwellen’s ‘The Overstayer Protocol’. The air hums with raw electric power, zapping through soft dub chords that tumble in the distance, offering a glimpse of another world while its industrial groove rattles on. Title track ‘Codebreaker’ then sees the lasers ride pounding kick drums, building in intensity before dropping into head-warping, brutish and futuristic synth hits, closing out another EP of excellent Torwellen sound design for CLR. With a career spanning over two decades, Björn Torwellen is known for his discography on labels such as De-Konstrukt, Nachtstrom Schallplatten, nonlinear systems, and CLR. He also heads the German-based educational platform SINEE, offering masterclasses, guides, feedback sessions, and more alongside artists such as Luigi Madonna, ANNẼ, and DEAS.

Founded by influential techno lynchpin Chris Liebing in 1999 and reemerging in 2021 after a five-year hiatus, Create Learn Repeat (CLR) has hosted a range of artists like Shlomi Aber, Dubfire, Flug, Bjarki, DJ Dextro and more while also focusing on developing newer acts in the scene such as Risa Taniguchi, The Southern, and Klint.
