In June of 2020, roughly three out of four Americans were saying that “racial and ethnic discrimination” is a “big problem” in the United States—up from only about half of Americans in 2015. But the Republican rebuttal is emerging as an early plank of the 2024 GOP contest: America is not a racist country. In a Fox News poll last June, a majority of Republicans, when asked how things work in America today, said minorities are favored over whites.
