Wokeness is a term that has become increasingly prevalent in recent years, particularly in the realm of social and political discourse. At its core, the concept of "wokeness" refers to a heightened awareness and sensitivity to issues of social justice, particularly those affecting marginalized communities. This can include issues such as race, gender, sexuality, and class.
This week Shawn and Josh are discussing Wokeness, attempting to agree on a definition and if it is a fundamentally good or bad thing.
The best comments from the week will be featured in our Saturday Podcast!

Listening to many on the left, we are living in the midst of an anti-racist revolution. In June of 2020, roughly three out of four Americans were saying that “racial and ethnic discrimination” is a “big problem” in the United States—up from only about half of Americans in 2015. But the Republican rebuttal is emerging as an early plank of the 2024 GOP contest: America is not a racist country. In a Fox News poll last June, a majority of Republicans, when asked how things work in America today, said minorities are favored over whites. This week, Shawn and Ras discuss the issue of racism in American and try to answer the question: Have we defeated racism in America?
Does politics have you feeling a little off balance? If you've listened to the Twisted Logic Podcast for a while, you'll know that philosophical consistency is an important trait for both Ras and Shawn. Unfortunately, Hypocrisy and inconsistency are rampant in modern politics. Join Ras and Shawn this week to discuss what inconsistency and hypocrisy can do to a democracy. From what should politicians say, to why they should say it the same way every time, this episode will have you looking at politics from a new perspective.

Earlier this month, Republican Congresswomen Lauren Boebert tweeted a familiar refrain from republicans: “Our nation is a Constitutional Republic and our founders got it right.” She is not the first Republican to call the US Government a republic, confusing many that have always thought of our country as a democracy. So, is she and her fellow republicans correct? Or is the refrain from politicians past that we are a democracy more accurate? And really, why does it even matter?
This week on the podcast, Ras and Shawn discuss this topic, and try and come to a reasonable answer.

The Twisted Logic team of Ras Ayer and Shawn St. Peter have come together to try something new for this week. We have decided to take a big concept and dive into it a few different ways. First, each of us wrote an article about the topic that can be found at our website, www.twistedlogicpod.com. Then during this show, we dove into the topic and our individual papers. It is a holistic approach to the topic that we think gives it the justice it deserves.
This month, we tackled the idea of White Culture and whether or not it exists in America as a standalone culture.
Join us as we discuss our individual articles, and the concept as a whole in this weeks Twisted Logic Podcast - recorded on 10/21/21 via the Stereo App.
Is Critical Race Theory a way of understanding how American racism has shaped public policy or a divisive discourse that pits BIPOC against white people?
In this episode broke down this question of Critical Race Theory with our usual brand of intellectually irreverent back and forth. Not as much audience participation as we like, but we still think it was a good show - and one where we may have started in different places, but made our way to a similar ending.
The Twisted Logic Podcast is recorded live every Thursday Night at 10PM EST / 7PM PST on the Stereo App. Want to be part of the conversation? Join us on the app to leave messages, or maybe will invite you to join us on the show!
This show was recorded live on Stereo on April 22. It is a rather long one, where we talk about the George Floyd Murder, the aftermath, and the Derek Chauvin Trial and Verdict. This conversation really highlighted some of the differences between Ras and I - particularly Ras's background in law enforcement.
We had a lot of good listener interaction, which always leads to a good show.

The return of the Twisted Logic Podcast is eminent.
Shawn St. Peter and Ras Ayer, two longtime friends, from different political and cultural perspectives, discuss the issues of the day and try and calmly and logically find common ground. For them, it is the first step towards bridging the polarization gap.
Shawn is a middle aged, middle class white male. He has no college degree and has spent his adult life working for US manufacturing companies. In high school, he was named the catholic youth of the year by his local Knights of Columbus chapter. He is happily married and has one child.
Ras is an ethnically and culturally diverse, highly educated man who grew up in a very liberal North Eastern US town. He has several degrees and spent time as a college professor. He is a recently divorced gay man.
Shawn is a dedicated Democrat, who has worked on local, State, and national political campaigns. He also has over 20 years in business management experience.
Ras is a conservative and strong Supporter of Donald Trump. He currently works in law enforcement.
These diverse and interesting perspectives help them tackle some of the toughest topics in politics, culture, and current events and guide their audience to a better understanding of not only the other side, but where the two sides can meet in the middle.
