Men can be really stupid sometimes.
Okay fine...a lot of the time.
But honestly, one of the dumbest things we do is wait until things are REALLY bad before we get any medical help or treatment. This is obviously particularly bad during a pandemic like the one we're currently experiencing.
Why do men do this, and more importantly, how do we encourage them to start caring for their health more proactively? To help me answer these questions, I was joined on this episode by The Street Doctor SA, who has had to deal with this issue quite a bit in his line of work.

How has the pandemic affected your parenting?
We have all lived through a fairly unique time over the past few months, which has meant we've had to change how we parent.
I asked my social media followers what their experience was, and in this episode we take a look at some of the wide ranging responses we received and try to explain how some of us feel like we're better parents now...while others feel like they've dropped the ball.

This episode did not go as planned.
Originally, it was supposed to be our final conversation with Dad-to-be, Dayne, before his baby girl was born...but that baby girl had other ideas! So, since she came a few months early, we held off recording this until this new family had time to settle in.
In this episode Dayne and I chat about his first few months being a dad, what it's like having a child in NICU for a few weeks, and how proud he is of his burping skills - all while listening back to his voice notes of what he experienced.
Remember, you can get Dayne's expert help for your child's education here: https://edugrow.co.za/

In this episode, I chat to Sean Loots (aka Seano), a radio presenter, podcaster, husband and father.
Sean and his wife went through (and in many ways, are still going through) the trauma of watching their young baby struggle with immense health issues - but at the same time, he had to keep up the happy, cheerful drive time radio personality.
How did he manage that, and what were the consequences to him and his family? That's what we talk about in this episode!
By the way, if you want to hear from Sean himself about his daughter's story and how here courage inspires him, listen to the Unstoppable Podcast here:

It's one of the biggest financial decisions we make: What car are we going to buy?
This question becomes even harder when you have think about getting a car that works for a family. Must it be big enough to fit everyone, plus the dog? Or should it be more fuel-efficient to save money? Is reliability the most important thing to keep in mind (considering how terrible a malfunctioning car is during a school run)?
I'm really happy that I managed to get someone who I consider to be the "SA Car Guy" - Ciro De Siena from Cars.co.za.
I tapped into his car knowledge and wisdom to get all the answers parents need before they get their next car!

There are many parenting experiences that I haven't had, and since I have two sons, one big one is being a father to a girl.
So to understand how having a daughter changes a man and what these dads actually think about Life, the Universe and Parenting, I chatted to two friends of mine who who are currently going through it all.
Tim Thabethe is an ex-colleague and current friend (even though he lives all the way in Bloemfontein).
Charles Gottschalk is a friend who lives up the road - his wife gives great thoughts about parenting and life along with AMAZING photographs on her Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/caitlyn.anne_
Note: There is a little bit of swearing in this episode, so keep those head phones on to keep little ears from listening in.

We've had a few months of really intense conversations, and even though they were all really good and important, it felt like a good time to have an easy and fun conversation with the wife about some of the best questions I get for Morning Coffee Questions.
MCQ is my daily session on Instagram Stories where I answer whatever questions my followers throw at me - following me on Instagram and get in the conversation every weekday: www.instagram.com/afrodaddyct

"My kids don't see colour!"
Um...yes they do - and if you aren't going to talk to them and teach them about race, someone or something else will.
In episode, Julie and I discuss why and how you can show your children how to engage with people that don't look like them.
