I completely forgot to write a description for the first part of this topic, which was a few days ago.

What we’re talking about is anxiety (clearly) and how it can sometimes manifest in behaviors that on the surface may appear somewhat positive or beneficial.

But what lies beneath is crucial to discover and acknowledge as you move towards increased emotional health.

(Less anxiety is possible!)

It was such a good time talking about some of the positive things that go along with having ADHD (and other types of neurodivergence) yesterday that I scrapped other episode plans and went right back to it today!

This is the happy side yay

Not the side filled with challenges and disappointments and perceived shortcomings. This is the side with the fun and the cool ideas and the super powers =)

Often ppl (myself included) spend a lot of time talking about the challenges of ADHD and other types of neurodivergence. And that’s fair- there are a lot of things about it that are misunderstood and a lot of unnecessary judgments made by neurotypical ppl towards neurodivergent ppl that would make them want to stand up for themselves and right the misconceptions

But there are also awesome things that go along with thinking differently that don’t necessarily need explanation; they just need to be noticed!

So let’s notice some of them :)

We’re back on the albums again! Part TWENTY, 110-101.

Today’s Poetry Time

Softest of Mornings



Softest of mornings, hello.
And what will you do today, I wonder,
to my heart?
And how much honey can the heart stand, I wonder,
before it must break?


This is trivial, or nothing: a snail
climbing a trellis of leaves
and the blue trumpets of its flowers.


No doubt clocks are ticking loudly
all over the world.
I don't hear them. The snail's pale horns
extend and waive this way and that
as her finger-body shuffles forward, leaving behind
the silvery path of her slime.


Oh, softest of mornings, how shall I break this?
How shall I move away from the snail, and the flowers?
How shall I go on, with my introspective and ambitious life?

I chose this poem for multiple reasons: This is a very special episode, so I wanted to grace it with my favorite poet. Also, this episode marks a milestone and I am thrilled to get to continue my “introspective and ambitious life,” both musically and in general. Also it’s just plain beautiful and with this being a Friday, perhaps you have the opportunity for some quiet mornings in the days ahead

ONLY 100 ALBUMS TO GO!!! Aw.

(It occurred to me last week that I’m really going to miss this project once we’re through.)

Onward and upward we go.

Oh it’s a major endeavor, alright.

I’m going to try to listen to at least 10 albums a week for the rest of the year!

Yeah, I’m not joking.

Media, art, and entertainment publication Paste Magazine came out with a list of the 300 best albums and we’re going to go through them all! Well, I’m going to.

And then we’re going to talk about it! Great tracks, themes, history, info, related artists, cultural context, personal experiences- they’re all going to play a part in these reviews.

Totally stoked because I love music. (And a little intimidated! Because this is a lot to process)

If we keep up with an episode per week featuring 10 albums each, we’ll just about finish by the end of 2024.

What a nightmare.

Do you appear to get an adequate QUANTITY of sleep on a regular basis, but you wake up so fatigued that you’re beginning to question the QUALITY of said sleep?

Do you know what the “ADHD tax” is?

It’s a colloquialism used to describe money sometimes lost to executive dysfunction.

It can can manifest in other types of neurodivergence as well, but is often associated with ADHD because it can be the result of having so many thoughts teeming through your brain at all times (a frequent symptom of ADHD) that it becomes challenging to prioritize them and/or act on them in a timely fashion

There are ways to mitigate! But today we’re just discussing it (with some levity) alongside some of my personal experiences, with an eye towards awareness and grace.
