Scriptures:
2 Corinthians 11:22-30 (Paul's list of sufferings)
Psalm 34:18, Revelations 21:4, Luke 6:21
Practical things to do as you go through the grief process:
1. Keep breathing. God is Ruach; the breathe of life.
2.Talk to God; trust His character of Love.
3. Be honest with your feelings. Surrender to the pain.
4. Use your imagination to put yourself in the picture with scripture. Use your five senses to hear God's personal truth for you. (for more information on how to do this, check out "Hearing God's Voice" Season 1, Episode 16)
5. Worship whether you feel like it or not
6. Speak scripture out loud. 7. Get honest with others and allow them to walk with you on your journey of healing.
8. Don't pretend like everything is ok, when it's not.
9. Reach out to a Professional Counselor or a Lay-Counselor. Someone who hears from God and can create a safe space for you to be free with your emotions. And point you to God's healing and truth.
Practical tips for friends/loved ones of those grieving:
1. Show empathy
2. The less you say, the better. Especially at first.
3. Don't try to fix. Just create a safe space to let them share their feelings
4. Deal with your own stuff. Other people's suffering will reveal areas you may not have dealt with yourself.
5. Remember everyone processes and grieves differently and on different timetables, don't try to impose what you think on someone else.
6. Love them in prayer and lead them to Christ, the One who binds up the broken hearted and brings new life out of suffering.
