Conversation from two days of notes because as much as you set goals you have days you don’t reach them!

I had so many questions! I’m sure I could have kept asking more and more cause Malu certainly doesn’t get tired of talking about the Hawaiian Language. Do you ever have questions about how to say day-to-day things in Hawaiian? I know I do! I’m pretty typical so chances are some of my questions will probably be relatable to you. This is day three for me of taking notes during the day while I’m with my kids and studying them at night.

Continuing on with our new series of taking notes throughout the day and then sharing the conversation we have at night about Hawaiian Language. In this episode Malu explains a lot of great words and the differences between similar words. I'm sure you can relate to at least one of my questions!

New Series - As a busy mom and business owner I don’t just find time to learn Hawaiian at home, I have to make it. I’m upping my efforts as I’ve realized that Pili is getting to the point of where what I know is not enough. I’ve set a new goal to try and reach Malu’s current level of speaking in 3 months. To do this I am writing notes throughout the day and then at night I discuss these questions with Malu. This new series is an Audio Journal of our conversations. We start this episode with a little explanation of the letter “w” and how it’s used in Hawaiian. The meat of this episode however is about being uncomfortable speaking Hawaiian as a second language speaker and also being misunderstood.

We’re coming back to talk about what I have (more like haven’t) done to learn Hawaiian thus far. If you’re like me and focusing on studying is hard for you then maybe what I share will be helpful! That is my hope. I know we’re all busy and living in all parts of the world so it may seem impossible to learn Hawaiian as a family, but if it’s something you feel is important than don’t let anything stop you! If I can do it, you can definitely do it.

Learning Hawaiian is hard, but speaking it in public is even harder! What are the insecurities that keep you from charging?! I want you to think of them as I share some of ours. Whatever the challenge is you can overcome them especially when you have a supportive community like this one!
