HAWAIIAN CHRISTMAS MISADVENTURES IS AN ENJOYABLE STORY FILLED WITH LOVE AND SOME MISUNDERSTANDINGS. I ENJOYED THE FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN KEVIN AND STACEY. THEY HAD A LOT OF CHEMISTRY. THE CHARACTERS ARE VERY BELIEVABLE AND WHO WOULDN'T WANT THEIR BOSS TO TAKE THEM TO HAWAII FOR VACATION. A MUST READ. LOOKING FORWARD TO READING MORE BOOKS BY GIULIETTA M. SPUDICH.
an exceptionally well-crafted tale of misunderstandings untangled
Believable characters, delicious setting, and a crisp bright style make this story of misunderstandings between friends and lovers compulsively readable. The plotting is seamless, with no false starts, no irrelevancies. Every new development a surprise at first but then makes perfect sense because she's laid the groundwork. Nothing just comes out of nowhere. The characters feel like real individuals, not predictable stick figures, and the problems they face are just as real. Stacey's changing view of the competitive but insecure Chris is especially insightful writing.

The main character Stacey's interactions with her husband and best friend form the basis of a love triangle in this story. It's complicated by Stacey's co-worker Christine, and I really liked the way the two female characters portrayed how friendships with other women can sometimes be stressful and have a lot of layers to them. I also appreciated how Christine was not a caricature of the "hot, insensitive girl," and had motives hinted at of her own. Stacey is likable and you are rooting for her the whole way through the book.
