Hawaiian Surf Forecast: South and Northwest Swells Deliver Exciting Weekend Conditions with Typhoon Krosa Impact

Listen Later

Aloha, wave riders! Get ready for a dynamic weekend of surf across the Hawaiian islands.

Our south swell is winding down, but don't hang up those boards just yet. A moderate long period south swell is rolling in late Sunday and into Monday, potentially bringing advisory-level conditions to south facing shores. Bonus: another south swell is tracking for the latter half of the week.

East shore surfers can expect choppy and elevated conditions through most of Sunday, with trades slowly easing back. Winds are cranking around 15-20 mph, so expect some serious texture.

The real gem this weekend? Typhoon Krosa is sending a small but spicy northwest swell our way. North facing shores will see a slight bump - nothing massive, but enough to keep things interesting. Expect 1-3 foot faces with another potential boost Wednesday night into Thursday.

Across the islands, surf ranges are looking consistent. South facing shores are holding strong at 4-6 feet, west facing shores steady at 3-5 feet. North and east facing shores are more mellow, sitting in the 0-3 foot range.

Temperature-wise, we're looking at classic Hawaiian conditions - mid 70s overnight, climbing to upper 80s during the day. Expect partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies with a chance of passing showers.

UV index is extreme, so slather on that sunscreen and stay hydrated. Sunrise is early, sunset late - maximize those water hours!

Aloha and epic waves, Hawaii!
