  • Ep5: Warrior On The Edge Of Time

Hawkbinge returns with 105 minutes on Warrior On The Edge Of Time. Another hugely extended episode is required to unpack this milestone album and everything that surrounds it.  Andy & Matt get into not only the music, but also Michael Moorcock and The Eternal Champion books upon which it is based, yet another signature piece of cover art, the Steven Wilson remastered edition and accompanying boxset, seeing the Warrior Tour live in Brighton in 2013 and a Motorhead death-match.

Also, as ever, the guys go thru the music of 1975 – the year of Bohemian Rhapsody – as well as responding to some listener messages and selecting choice tracks from other records they’ve been spinning since the last episode that will go into volume 2 of the Hawkbinge Sessions playlist.

  • Ep 3.5: Space Ritual

Hawkbinge returns with the Space Ritual bonus episode!  Matt & Andy talk about the place that live albums play in their respective musical backgrounds before taking a dive deep into this landmark album from Hawkwind, compare live & studio versions of tracks such as "Seven by Seven" and "Time We Left This World Today" and get stuck into new ones such as "Born To Go" and the legendary "Sonic Attack".  There's also a look at the Barney Bubbles masterpiece that is the Space Ritual cover.  All this, plus the joy of Brian Blessed, a nod to those who have been in touch, and the final result of the "Save The Black Heart" Crowdfunder campaign...

  • Ep 3: Doremi Fasol Latido

Finally, Hawkbinge returns to tackle Hawkwind's third album. Andy & Matt get deep into this particular monster, Matt tries to pick a favourite track and, as usual, they take a look at what else was released that same year, (a pretty eclectic one), and go over the state of the band in the wake of the success of Silver Machine.

As usual, they also chat about what else has been on their turntables recently, which leads to the release of the first Hawkbinge Sessions playlist on Spotify, featuring all of the artists mentioned up to now plus selected Hawkwind tracks from the albums covered so far on the pod. In addition, the Master playlist, comprised of Matt's featured track from each Hawkwind album is also now available, and will grow with each new episode.

  • Ep 2.5: Silver Machine

Our path on the Hawkbinge journey generally leads us through all of Hawkwind's vast array studio albums.  However, it happens to be the case that the biggest (and only) Hawkwind hit and their most well-known song by far is a non-album single, the legendary Silver Machine.  It would seem like a dereliction of duty for us to skip over this landmark, heralding, as it does, the arrival on one Lemmy Kilmister and a spot on BBC's Top Of The Pops.  So here is a bonus podcast where Matt will give us his reaction to this iconic track after hearing it for the first time, provided he can work out which version of it he is supposed to be listening to...

In addition to Matt's hot-take on SIlver Machine, there is the singles chart for August 13th 1972 and Matt's take on the B-side, Seven By Seven.

Many thanks to those who have commented on our channels and reviewed/rated the podcast - we recorded this bonus episode last week, but will be shouting out to you in the next episode.

  • Ep 2: In Search Of Space

It took a little longer than anticipated but Hawkbinge is back with a bumper second episode.  Hear Andy and Matt unpack everything that comes with Hawkwind's breakout second album - the music, the packaging and the Log Book that accompanied the original vinyl.  Also, a look at 1971 and its rather stellar list of album releases and a heartfelt plea to help The Black Heart music venue in Camden.

And if you don't have the Log Book, we found a PDF of it and put it up for your reading pleasure: https://tinyurl.com/3d284dsl

  • Ep 0: Introduction to HawkBinge

Andy & Matt introduce HawkBinge, their journey through every Hawkwind album from 1970 to the present day.  While Andy has been into Hawkwind for many many years and knows all the albums very well, Matt has never heard any of them and so will be hearing all this music for the first time each episode.  In this introduction, Andy and Matt talk about music history they share, the perspective they'll bring to this journey and some of the things we can expect to see along the way.
