While we all expected that a loss was possible (probable?) against the Ohio State University, the Hawkeye 4DT guy dig into what we saw on Saturday and why the Hawks ultimately fell to 4-1 at the hands of the Buckeyes. Earlier weeks saw the guys struggle to come up with appropriate third down topics - unfortunately, this week, third topics were plentiful while second down topics became scarce. However, the weekend was not all about the Hawks on the field. Zach and Brian also take an extended look at how Pat McAfee's show and ESPN's College GamedDay both showing up in Iowa City put a national spotlight on the town - a spotlight that really made Iowa City, the University of Iowa, and the Hawkeyes shine!

Every great season requires a bit of magic. What we saw in Ann Arbor on Saturday will certainly qualify as that for your 2026 Iowa Hawkeyes! Of course, the Hawkeye 4DT guys were excited to talk about the game this week!! Zach and Brian start out by examining last Saturday's memorable game and discussing whether, despite what every Michigan Fan seems to think, Iowa "deserved" to pull out one of the greatest victories of the Kirk Ferentz era. After navigating (relatively) calm waters, Iowa emerges from the non-conference portion of their schedule with a perfect 3-0 for the first time in several years. The Hawkeye 4DT guys take a look back at the dominating 55-0 win over the UNI Panthers, which saw RB3, RB4, and RB5 eclipse 100 yards. Yeah, yeah, it was just UNI, but great to see the Hawks heading into Big Ten play doing what you're supposed to as a good team – dominate lower-level competition. As good ol' JR would say, business is about to pick up as Iowa travels to Ann Arbor to take on the 3-0* Wolverines in the first of that three-game gauntlet Hawkeye fans everywhere have been focused on since the preseason. After another long offseason, Iowa football is (almost) back, which means it is time for the annual Hawkeye 4DT preseason previews! With new faces and question marks across the projected two-deep, there are plenty of topics to discuss - including whether or not Brian's 2023 prediction that the offense will lead the way will finally come true. Although it was against B1G-winless MSU, it sure felt good to be on the right side of a late game comeback win as Iowa comes out on top 20-17 against Sparty on Senior Day in Iowa City. The Hawkeye 4DT guys have plenty to discuss coming out of Saturday's game, but it's better to be talking about 7-4 Iowa Hawkeyes team, Kaden Wetjen's heroics and Mark Gronowski's 4th quarter Superman impression than lamenting a 6-5 team, coming off a terrible loss and heading into the final game of the season in Lincoln, Nebraska. Speaking of Nebraska, Zach and Brian look ahead to Friday and try to predict what new and novel way the Huskers can trip over themselves on the way to another Hawkeye walk-off FG - we all know that Drew Stevens has some recent practice with that!

The script is starting to look familiar as your Iowa Hawkeyes once again come up just short against another top 20 opponent. This time Iowa fell 26-21 to the USC Trojans, after seeing an 11 point halftime lead melt away in rainy Southern California. The Hawkeye 4DT guys convene again this week to talk each other off the ledge as fans are left trying to deal with a once-promising season that now looks eerily similar to the 2010 Hawkeyes, with close losses to good teams. But, despite the losses, the Hawkeyes have three more games, and Brian and Zach give their thoughts heading into Senior Day in Iowa City, as Iowa takes on a struggling Sparty to try and get back in win column in November.
