IOWA CITY, Iowa – Grant Steen became one of the first walk-on success stories during coach Kirk Ferentz’s tenure at Iowa. He helped the Hawkeyes win a Big Ten title and reach the Orange Bowl.
Steen prepped at Emmetsburg, where he played for his father, Tom Steen, who’s in the Iowa high school coaching hall of fame. He then helped develop the LEO linebacker position at Iowa before playing professionally.
Steen then went into coaching and currently is a strength and conditioning coach with the Seattle Seahawks.
We caught up with Steen recently for our Hawkeye History Podcast. He talked about his time at Iowa and where life has taken him since graduation.
