Huge road win for the Hawkeyes to move to 7-4 and 5-3 in the conference. With a win against Nebraska, the Hawkeyes will be headed to Indianapolis to score an upset win over the Wolverines or the Buckeyes!! GO HAWKS!!

The Hawkeyes beat the Badgers with excellent defense and special teams play. Both teams struggled offensively, but the Iowa offense was able to put the ball in the end zone a couple of times after good field position. Cooper DeJean had a monster day with ten tackles, a pick six and over 80 punt return yards. Iowa is now bowl eligible at 6-4 with Minnesota up next. The Bull is back in Iowa City!! Go Hawks!

Iowa basketball with runaway wins on a Monday night double header. It will be fun to watch the 4th ranked Iowa women this year, and I love the starting lineup Fran has right now. Length and quickness should lead to better defense, and offense is natural to these guys. Huge game at Kinnick on Saturday. The Bull needs to come back to Iowa City! I’m predicting a 24-20 Iowa win, higher scoring than most, but I like what Iowa has been doing and Kaleb Johnson will have another big game.I’m fine with 13-7, as long as Iowa prevails! Oh, and Go Boilers?!

Spencer Petras was distributing the ball to wide receivers under duress, hitting tight ends deep. The running game was rolling with true freshman Kaleb Johnson piling up 200 yards. Purdue’s game plan to throw to Charlie Jones over and over didn’t work against the Hawkeyes. Charlie got 104 yards receiving but on 19 targets and 11 catches. Iowa’s defense only gave up 3 points against a “high flying” Purdue offense. Go Hawks!!

Iowa’s offense looked good against Northwestern with a nice passing game and running game and improved line play. The competition was down a notch, but it was fun to see. Next up is Purdue, and the key is limiting touches for Charlie Jones and forcing turnovers in the passing game. Fran’s squad had a scrimmage that I couldn’t watch because the B1G+ app refuses to work. I love the starting lineup with Perkins at the 1 and Sandfort at the 2. A lot of scorers and a long, athletic lineup.

The Hawkeyes face 1-6 Northwestern this weekend and need to show improvement on the offensive side of the ball. The offensive line has really struggled this year, but the competition is getting easier, starting with NW. This weekend’s game is a must win for the Iowa Hawkeyes on homecoming. Kirk Ferentz made some comments about a reporter on Tuesday that resulted in an apology the next day. People aren’t Interested in feisty Kirk right now, and they just want to see results on the field.

Iowa repeatedly gave the Buckeyes offense a short field, and the defense did what it could to keep Ohio State out of the end zone. Turnovers have become a huge problem for the Hawkeyes offense. The Iowa offense finally saw Alex Padilla take over in the second half, but it was his first game action of the season. It was a rocky start, to say the least, but a change was needed. Let’s see what Padilla can do against NW next weekend and hopefully get the Hawkeyes back to winning. Go Hawks!
